Hmmmm, I had tried using winsockxpfix and it didn't fix my problem. Of course, that was before I got the computer updated to SP2, maybe that was my problem.
It was an older laptop that had been lying around and I discovered the problem when I booted it up and tried to connect to the internet...
Holy moly, I got it to finally work. And I got help from y'all and, believe it or not, from the microsoft website. I'm postin the steps I took below, mind you, this was for a machine that did not have SP2 (Yet), but I'm loadin that now as I type.
Manual steps to recover from Winsock2...
Hmmm, I know this may sound stupid, but when I look under services (local) for those 3 services, I don't see any of them. The closest I have for any is ICP/IP helper, and that's already started. I don't see afd (whatever that means) or NetBT. I'm starting to think the fact that I can't find...
I'm having the same problem, and under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dhcp , I have
Tcpip
afd
NetBT
In that order. I'm totally lost as to what else I should do. As for the image from stduc, I have all the same dependencies.
