Through AD Users and Computers in the user tab there is a selection for specifying which computers that person can logon to....is this the only way to ensure a user doesn't logon more than once??
thanks
I'm testing changing domains for an Exchange 5.5 server in a Windows 2000 environment.
Two W2K Domains
1. I established trust relationship between the two domains.
2. I've added the target domain service account to the site, org and config containers along with the NT-Descriptor in the schema...
I need to demote and then promote my w2k DC due to a problem in DNS during installation causing a disjointed name space ("computername.domain" instead of "computername.domain.com like all others). I tried adding another DC so i could replicate and then demote the other but it...
I need to demote and then promote my w2k DC due to a problem in DNS during installation causing a disjointed name space (company instead of company.com like all others).
My concern is if i do that and restore with the same admin name and password will my exchange server have a problem...
I've installed quickbooks on a 2000 pro station as the administrator. When i try running the program as a user logged into the network it says the user account was created with restricted access to system resources.
I can access the program as the same user logged in locally (with apparently...
I will be replacing the four (3 hot swap, 1 hot spare) drives with new ones sent to me by IBM. My question is, as i'm fairly new to RAID, if i replace the drives, configure RAID 5 for these drives (setting up logical drives etc as i need them), install the OS, and finally restore from backup...
On one desktop the user tries to send an e-mail of the word document but doesn't get the internal receipients (have outlook 2000 and exchange 5.5). Within excel you do get the recepients when trying to e-mail.
It's only on the one desktop so i'm assuming i can run an office repair to fix the...
It doesn't happen every time and each time it does happen it occurs differently.
When logging into the PC it'll stop responding and will either stop: before icons are displayed, half icons displayed or all displayed but won't be able to click on any button/icon. WHen i press CTRL-ALT-DELETE...
Just wanted to find out if backing up the entire registry in case of harddisk crash would be of help. Would i then be able to then install 98 on another disk and import the registry file? OR would i still need to image the drive?
thanks
Outlook clients received this message this morning. I got the clients running after restarting the Exchange Server. Although it could be a damaged mapi32.dll according to the KB i don't think it is due to the problem going away following the reboot (could be wrong). May be a problem with...
The client application seems to lock up on one computer but after a few seconds the mail is sent.
what could be the cause?
I've re-installed outlook and changed RAM
I've been noticing several event IDs 1000 (userenv) with code 1722. After some research, i've found that this problem can be caused if there is a disjointed DNS Namespace.
I've noticed the computer name's suffix is different from that of the domain (computer.company.(). vs .company.com)...
With lockout policies enabled, will the administrator account also be locked out if there is an attempt at entering the network with that account?
Also, the domain has win98 clients with 2000 servers. Setting up security (password restrictions, account lockout, user rights, etc) for the...
I have an exchange 5.5 server currently running on an old NT 4.0 machine. I'm setting up a new box with 2000 installed and plan on installing exchange 5.5 and moving the mailboxes over to the new machine. To verify....i can just install exchange in the same site and org as the other and move...
I'm looking to purchase a hardware firewall appliance and was wondering what product anyone recommends:
CISCO, checkpoint, watchguard, sonicwall.....
i've obtained information and pricing on watchguard. It looks admin-friendly and pretty solid as a product. Has anyone used them? Others ...
The windows 2000 DC occasionally locks users out though i don't have a policy for locking out accounts yet on the new server. This server was upgraded from NT to W2K. One of the users i've created a new account but it happened also.
Has this happened to anyone?
Does anyone know what this is? The W2K DC gives me a licensing conflict when people logon telling me no license was available for user johndoe for using SMBServer 5.0
thanks
