    Product Activation question

    I heard that there is a way to back up my "key" in case I were to reformat my system and reinstall my copy of office 2003. Does anyone know how the activation works and if you can actually back up the key? I hate to be out $500 if I have to reformat and reinstall. Thanks in advance.
