I should be able to shear and implement perspective using this tool, but it refuses to do anything but rescale and rotate, as per a regular selection.
I've looked in help, but no luck.

any ideas?
Illustrator has a neat little function called "Transform Each", which enables you to change the scale or orientation of multiple, ungrouped objects at once.
I can't seem to find a comparable feature in ID. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Is it possible to somehow do this in order to create an accurate mask using an image to define the masked areas?
Something along the lines of copying and image directly into the maks channel (I tried this but it doesn't work).
Actually, I might try to just paste a single channel into the layer...
Sometimes I have to output print jobs in Illlustrator - It would be really handy if there was a feature that would automatically bundle all of the images and fonts used in the document into a single output folder - just as per the InDesign "Package" feature. Or if you are still using Quark...
In InDesign there is a feature called "Nonbreaking Space" (Type>Insert White Space>Nonbreaking Space).
This is the proper way to force a line break (as opposed to a soft return) - the benefit being that if your text is to reshuffle at some later point, you will not end up with strange...
Inevitably whenever I build a file which has a lot of points, Illy starts to lag considerably re. screen re-freshes, saving etc.
Is their anyway that I can improve the performance of the app. in these sort of situation? (like "proxy" view on InDesign, for better performance)
I've noticed that when I enlarge objects so that they extend beyond the edges of thr canvas, this area beyond the visible canvas adds to the size of my file.
This is not good.
Is there a method for removing this superflous area beyond the edge?
Thanks!
I have an image of a clear sky, which I wish to extend the height of, seamlessly. There is a slight gradient in the sky - but overall the tone is pretty consistent.
What is the best way to convincingly extend this region of the image?
Should this be avoided - I seem to get weird things happening when I try to print to my Postscript printer (after exporting a PDF from InDesign).
Things like graphics disappearing, separation not printing etc. and sometimes, files not printing at all.
Any experiences with these sort of issue...
In illustrator there is a command which enable you to select many objects which have the same fill colour (Select>same>fill colour).
This is really handy for rapdily makiing colour changes throughout a document. Is there a similar feature in InDesign?
For example, I have a doocument that...
If I were to send a hi-res PDF to a commercial printing press, would it be OK for the document that it was generated from to have had True Type fotns in it, or would this cause the usual sorts of problems associated with true type fonts?
Does the embedding overcome these issues?
I have some recollection of being able to cycle thru the various sub-tools of a tool (the ones that pop out when you click on the tool palette) by just tapping the shortcut for that too l repeatedly.
This was VERY handy, and saved a lot of time.
For example, hitting "L" would give me the lasso...
Is this possible?
One of the excellent things about FreeHand is the ability to create multi-page docs and then export them directly to PDF. Saves alot of time.
Is there anyway this can be done in Illustrator?
To vert. and horiz. align two objects requires clicking two seperate buttons in the align palette.
I was wondering if it is possible to be this with only one click, using either a modifier key, or some keyboard shortcut.
Any ideas?
In the swatches palette (Illy CS) I use the "Select all unused" command to delete my unused swatches.
However, it always does not select everything -curiously it does not select Yellow, Lime and Night Blue (and white and black)
I'm baffled as to why this would be so, and will award a star...
Yes, I know this isn't specifically an InDesign question - but there is no Suitcase forum.
How is this done?
I want to retain all of my font sets as I switch to my new computer - I can't find the applicable folders, though.
Any ideas?
After I have distilled an illustrator EPS into a PDF, I am unable to print any pages which feature a pattern swatch.
Has anyone else encountered the same issue, and is there a way around this? (other than making a jpeg of the page to print :s )
As there is a shortcut for adjusting the opacity for the brush (just type in the numerical value you rquire), I thought that there might also be a short cut for adjustiing the hardness of the brush.
Any ideas?
