Hi all,
Looking for some general info on anyone that has successfully set up a Windows Server 2003 cluster on an HP c7000 blade system. Specifically, how did you set up the "heartbeat" between the 2 servers and what are you using for shared storage?
Thanks in advance.
Some of our address lists got messed up when migrating from Exchange 2000 to 2007. I need to include members of an address list based on their SMTP address. Basically, I want to say:
ComapanyA address list contains any members whose email address is *@CompanyA.com
CompanyB address list...
I haven't had to deal with VPN's much in our setup, so I need some advice from the experts. Currently, we have a central office with 6 remote offices, all connected throught dedicated T1 lines. Cisco 1720 Series Routers on the remote ends connecting to an Adtran Router with an 8 port WAN card...
Anyone have any pros or cons to share running their business on DSL? We are a central office with 6 remote sites connected through T1's. We're trying to compare going to DSL for cost/speed reasons. My main concern is reliability. Our T1's rarely drop a connection, if ever. This wouldn't be...
Having a problem upgrading BE11d to 12 and wondering if anyone else has had success. During the upgrade process, a message pops up:
Setup will be unable to detach the BEDB database from the SQL Server {Servername}because it has failed to establish a connection. If you choose to continue with...
We have certain users that should only be allowed to email within our organization. We set up a group in Active Directory "No Internet Mail" and we set them up with bogus smtp addresses. This used to work fine in Exchange 2000. However, in Exchange 2007, they still can't receive external mail...
We are in a Windows 2003 Terminal Server environment. We use roaming profiles. There are some programs we started using that saves important information in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings. By default, Windows does not copy this folder with roaming profiles. Does anyone know...
How can I prevent users from within our organization from sending to one recipient outside of the organization (it is a yahoo address). We don't use the edge transport. We use a third party filter device for incoming email, but all outgoing is sent direct from the Exchange Server. I suppose I...
Hi all,
Running Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007. We just added a 5 user group of construction workers that are working on a building project for us. This group wants to share a calendar for appointments. Here is the way they describe what they need:
Project Manager "Joe" adds an appointment...
We have 6 remote sites connected to the central office all connected by dedicated T1's. There is a Cisco 2600 series router at the central office and 1720's at the remote. Is there a way via the IOS to determine how much of that 1.544 MB is actually being used - either in real time or an...
I'm not really having any problems sending or receiving from Exchange 2007, but I wanted some clarification on the naming and to make sure we are set up correctly with our ISP.
Our local domain is corp.<DomainName>.com
Our server name is EX2007.corp.DomainName.com
Our external MX record which...
I have a feeling our MX records are not totally set up correctly and I wanted some input from the experts. Here is our setup:
Exchange Server 2000 - name is EX2
Symantec Mail Security Appliance - Name: Mail8240
Cisco Router NATS public ip address used for mail to the Mail8240 appliance.
So...
We need to move our main file server share and I am looking for the most painless way to do this. We currently have our main shares on a single Windows 2003 Server. We are not using DFS, which I regret now because I think it would have simplified this.
Anyway on the file server which is...
Ok, I thought I had all my bases covered. I upgraded the only Global Catalog server in our organization to Windows 2003 R2, ran forestprep, adprep, etc. From what I read you only need one GC in an organization to be running Windows 2003. This server (DC1) holds all FSMO roles.
While trying...
I've been doing tons of reading in preparing for upgrading our domain to Exchange 2007. I am looking to see if anyone has found the best upgrade guide in a single document. Here is our setup:
Single Forest/Domain
2 Domain Controllers - both Windows 2000
Exchange 2000
I was planning on...
I'm doing some troubleshooting through the registry. The HKEY_USERS key identifies users by their SID. What is the easiest way to find out which user these SIDS refer to?
Thanks.
I understand that ACL's can be applied to the vty lines to control access to Telnet. My question is this:
If I already have an ACL on the WAN interface that does not allow port 23, is that enough to prevent Telnet access to my router from the outside? I imagine that packets hit the outside...
Has anyone used SQL Backup from Red-Gate software? I downloaded a trial version and backups seem to be super fast and the file is compressed by about 90% which would allow me to keep about a week's worth of backups right to disk, then just archive that to tape weekly. Anyone have experience...
Other than disabling the browser service, is there a way to stop a Windows 2000 Server from forcing master browser elections? I only want my DC to be the master browser and no other servers/workstations should announce as master browsers.
I would rather not disable the browser service, because...
In everyone's experience, what is the best way to handle name changes in AD? For example, a person is getting married. Is it as simple as renaming the account? What are some problems you have encountered? Also, as far as SMTP addresses, I am thinking of adding an additional SMTP address and...
