Can I configure the amount of time the shift key stays in effect before a 3904 reverts to the home screen?

I would like to build a speed dial entry to include a # or an * to activate a FFC to cut down on the number of keys required to change a remote call forward extension. It doesnt seem to process an entry that has them. Suggestions?
