I'm starting a new job where I'll be managing a multi-point metropolitan-area network -- at least 12 routers. The new boss wants to buy a laptop for me, but wonders whether the laptop needs a serial port to talk to routers and switches.
Seven years ago I would have said yes, absolutely. But...
Pardon the newbie question, but I haven't worked much with Panas.
From reading the manual it looks like there's no way to get creative with line assignment -- make CO Line 1 ring only on Set 11, CO Line 2 and 3 both ring on Set 12, etc. Looks like you get every line on every set no matter what...
Customer has a MICS, sw ver 7.0, with T1/PRI/DID, and a CallPilot 150 with Enhanced Call Center. They say often the Call Center's greetings get cut off half-way through, e.g. "We apologize for the delay. If you would like to leave a message, press--".
I think this is happening only with the...
Now that the MICS and CICS are going away -- and I wouldn't bet on the BCM line being sold much longer either -- what are people finding to meet customers' needs?
Maybe it's not as crazy as it sounds. The situation is: A medical practice) has a T1 with PRI & DID. Most of the time that's enough. But Monday and Tuesday mornings their billing department and their medical assistants start calling out, and patients call in, and the T1 gets saturated.
One...

Does anyone know of a call-back facility that can be added onto an MICS/CallPilot 150 combo with Enhanced Call Center? We want something that will prompt the caller for a call-back number, record it, and then when an agent is free call the customer back and transfer the call to the free agent...
The main processor unit on our customer's Partner ACS rel. 1.0 failed without any backup. I replaced with a refurbished ACS rel 6.0 (PACS R6.0.C C01). Most things came up fine, just had to reprogram, BUT: I can't get the VMS online -- I can't find the VMS extensions to get them into the #777...
I know I did this, but I can't remember how...
There's a way to go in like you do with **XFTEST and not just see the hex numbers associated with F9nn feature codes but change them too.
I know I knew this once because for a while **XFTEST on our CICS would show things like F904 = 11111111...
The CCR software says it's connecting to the Messaging (CallPilot) 150 okay, and it seems to be pulling call data off of it. But when you want to actually see the data, the CCR's web page says "Please select skill sets" while showing you a box containing no skill set names. It contains nothing...
When I try to acquire a MICS with NRU ver 10's spreadsheet tool (OLP), I get a "map file" error. I actually have the map file -- what I need is the "naics7_0.xls" file.
Nortel's website doesn't seem to have it. Anyone here know where to find it? TIA.
I put a GATM4 into the BCM400, setting the dip switches to 110101 to put it on Bus 4 Offset 1, right next to the existing 4-trunk MBM. I thought the lines would come in as L059-L162, but when I try to make those lines appear on a set, I get nothing. In fact, I get nothing for any possible line...
One of our users gets disconnected and has to log in again every morning at 9:57. He doesn't like this, neither do I, and I can't imagine why it happens.
The network is Active Directory/Windows 2003 Server SE SP2; the user's PC runs Win XP, fully patched. Symantec Client Security is installed...
Is there a way to set the IP address on one of these without using the management software?
And if I did manage to set its IP address, would it do me any good if I didn't have the management software?
This BCM has 8 POTS lines coming into it. Line 8, which I'll call 123-4567, is extended: it also appears on a jack that serves a POTS interface to a security radio (walkie-talkie) system. Lines 1 through 7 are in Line Pool A.
Line 1 and Line 8 both need to appear & ring on DN 3000 (Dispatch)...
I think I've done this in the past -- but I'm darned if I remember how.
We have a CallPilot 100, version 02.00.47.00, with Auto-Attendant and two CCR trees. One tree is for business hours, the other for non-business hours. The CallPilot is smart about shifting between the two trees according to...
I'm trying to reconstruct the configuration on a BCM 400 ver 3.7 that replaced an old BCM 400 3.0, which was so old and unpatched we couldn't get a backup off it. I've actually nailed down all but one thing, and it's driving me nuts:
Customer has 8 Centrex trunks. On one set, they have a...
The set can make and receive calls on the outside lines, and can receive intercom calls -- but cannot make intercom calls. The dial tone is stuttered. We suspect the set has been locked (Extension Control). Is there anything else that could cause this?
I have two FastRADs, both purchased within the last year, and neither can maintain a phone connection for more than about 20 seconds. They respond normally to Feature 9**. The only visible problem is that when the RAD is connected to a KSU (both KSUs are MICS with 6.1 or 7.1 software) the power...
We have a customer with a new CICS and four (4) analog cordless sets served by ATAs. When an external caller is transferred from one of these sets (using Flash *3, Flash *70 or Flash *71), the caller hears nothing unless the person answers -- no ringback, no beeps, nothing. If the call gets...
