Hi,
We seem to have only 2 sessions and we keep getting times when an user needs to dial in but it says the number of sessions has exceeded the maximum.
So I have to start up Terminal Services Manager and "Reset" one of them, which is a pain.
Is there a way to prevent this happening in the...
I'd really appreciate your help.
Will the size of this file (on my C drive) reduce if I dramatically increase the amount of RAM in my system ?
I am planning to upgrade my server from 1.5GB to 2.5GB and my maintenance provider thinks it won't make any difference.
I thought it would because...
Hi,
I would like to know the formulae for creating for calculating the number of calendar days between two dates which are stored in my database - ie. next service date - current date = x number of days.
As well as creating a result (for displaying on the "Servicing" form), I would like to use...
Hi,
A user who's recently left the company had a huge mailbox which I have archived off the server into a PST and imported it into his Team Leader's Outlook so she can retrieve any items she needs. This has all gone fine.
Where I'm struggling is in freeing up the nearly 1.0GB of space which...
Hi,
Could you tell me how a Windows XP user checks the IP address allocated to him by our server whilst connected to our server using VPN.
I thought it was using IPCONFIG at the command prompt, but I'm not sure because it shows my IP address whilst on the VPN as a different number to what I...
Hi,
Is there a way of getting rid of the irritating prompt that Windows XP keeps popping up to ask the user to reboot following an update ?
Appart from the annoying nature of the message, there's a risk that the user may accidentally click on "restart now" and waste time waiting for the PC to...
I have successfully imported my fleet data from a variety of Excel spreadsheets to Access, and got everything the way I want - with just one exception.
I want to do some basic calculations using some fields of the database - to start off with, I want a field to show a sum of the two fields...
Hi,
When I'm accessing my PC at a remote location using Windows XP's Remote Desktop (which is great !), is the host PC locked or blanked so that someone there cannot inferere with what I'm doing or even see it ?

If a PC uses the "friendly" login prompt where it shows the user name along with a small picture, how do I switch it to use the standard login prompt where you type in the user name and (if set) password ?
I need to do this to log on as Administrator.
I hope you can help me.

Hi,
Our server is desperately low on disk space and I noticed the Backup Exec directory is the largest under Program Files.
Most of the space 1.1GB is residing in the "Catalog" directory - can you explain what this directory is for, and what the files contain - most have extensions of .FDD...
Hi,
I have an Excel spreadsheet where the field names are down the side rather than the more usual along the top.
For working in Excel I find this fomat much, much easier which is why I did it.
But it's causing me problems with importing it to Access because it doesn't understand my layout...
Hi,
Whenever I set up a new Act workstation (v 5.0.4), it takes a while to set up the Act preferences.
As we have a standard set of preferences, I was wondering if there was a file containing them stored somewhere on the C drive, so that I could back it up to our network and just copy the file...
Hi,
If I've received a Publisher document which has been saved in a more recent version to what I have on my PC, how do I open it ?
I can't find any mention on the Microsoft web site of a Publisher viewer (like there is for Word and Excel).
I do hope you can help me.

Jay/UK
I have a problem with the above program.
Our Backup software automatically stops the service at 3am every morning before the backup commences. Unfortunately, last night it stopped responding so is now showing "stopping" - the message in Symantec's event log is The process SAVFMSESp.exe was...
I want to update a database I started quite some time ago. I'm 99% sure it was created with Access 2000.
However when I call it up, it says the database is read-only and won't even allow me to re-save it under a different name (as it would if we were talking about a Word 2000 document which was...

Hi,
I look after a network of PCs - most of the Windows 98 PCs have standard login prompts with boxes for name, passowrd and domain you can fill in but some have a different box with only the names of users who've logged on there before with a box to fill in their password.
I don't really want...
We are using an electronic letterhead which uses HTML and it displays correctly in Office 2000, but when using Office 2003 the graphics shift towards the bottom of the e-mail which is incorrect.
Most of our users use Office 2000 and it's only in the last month we've bought a PC for a new...
Hi,
Does Outlook stores the user's e-mails in the user's Documents and Settings folder ? I know it's stored in a PST file, but am not 100% sure where.
My reason for asking is that I'm retrieving data from a laptop's hard drive (the laptop itself has died).

Jay
Hi,
I have a cable with a Male 9-pin connector at one end and a Female 9-pin connector at the other end.
How do I tell if it's a standard serial cable or a null modem cable. I've been told the two types look identical, so how do I tell them apart ?
There is some wording on the cable itself -...
