I know, it's a broad question. Locally, the community college and tek.school don't offer classes in this. I am reading what I can find and learning VERY slowly. Eventually I will make it but are there any tips on how to accelerate learning?

My computer tek recently "rebuilt" my harddrive - unconditional delete or format (I don't remember exactly) and then reloaded software. The screen brightness is just a bit low - even on the highest setting on the laptop adjustment buttons. Is there any way to brighten it up?
