Anyone got any ideas on the following :
Media positioning errors on a VTL.
"too many daya blocks written" error ... Positioning check shows expected and actual position hundreds of blocks apart (actual > expected).
Apart from the no / size data buffer settings in NBU, anyone aware...

The volretent (mminfo) showsed 25/8, but they are not showing as expired in nsrjb ???
Now, I could force them, but I'm more concerned as to why they're not doing what they should.

Sorry to be a pain, very new to networking and browsing the posts here for background knowledge ... Due to changes at work, swapping to networks seemed a good way to ensure a position, + new experience.

On a couple of our servers (only checked to) I noticed some volumes taht although only 3 or so months old had a very high number of mounts reported from mminfo. I did a quick test and discovered that with each mount operation the count actually increased by 2 ...

System detects DVD and SATA drive, then says detecting USB device and hangs.
Occassionally, it does actually boot with it attached.

AWK is a possible, but need to pass the variables into it ...
grep is possible,
grep var1 filename |grep var2 .. but not neat ...
and better ways ???

The JNI driver has been upgraded from 5.0.x to 5.3.1.3 - the sd, st and jnic146x.conf files were saved and then copied back after the upgrade (reinstall) of the new driver. Box was them re-booted.
