Hi,
I'm a bit confused: a LAN with 20 workstations (XP prof) uses a plain vanilla SBS 2003.
Now in the licensing app it says there exists only the built in 5 user CAL but that the maximum connected users was 12.
Doesn't SBS cut you off after the fifth user? So this company just violates the...

We have a report section that filters on two fields, they are only shown if they are a certain string in a field by supressing them if they aren't.
Works great, but we like to head the field with some text when the item does not have that field.
To be more precise in an example: we have...
Hi,
I'm sorry to stumble into a techies forum. But I need some advice as the BusinessObjects site can't make it clear to me. I have 3 questions (down below).
Our setup: A MS-SQL server (v7) on a Windows 2000 server with IIS 5 and an ASP.NET webapplication.
Within the webapplication it is a...

A DC was configured as a Routing and Remote Access server.
Later it turned out that it was easier to set up VPN's to the ADSL router than the W2K server.
Now how do I get rid of all the stuff that RRAS installed on the server?
It is annoying to see the NDisWan adapters keep showing up in...
Hi,
A customer has a WAN with W2K servers on each side.
The workstations on the main office once all used the domain controller on the remote site as the default domain controller, which slowed things down to a crawl.
Unfortunately I did not write the registry keys down where the references to...
Hi,
Same setup as a few questions earlier: VPN across a ADSL wan
with FRS set on about 40 directories containing 15 GB merely static data.
The target server was low on diskspace but not to the point of error messages (1GB left of 18GB). FRSstaging directory on both sides have plenty of space...
Hi,
We moved to 802.1x authentication, depending on your credentials you either stay in the unauthenticated VLAN or you switch to one of the two authenticated VLAN's.
This means you switch from a VLAN where you cannot find the Netware servers to a VLAN where you can find your login server.
Now...
Hi,
I've searched the web to no avail thusfar. Error message:
"Product: Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine -- Installation operation failed." But all answers I've seen where about people where the installation failed, not the de-installation.
Setup:
NT4 server UK SP6a, SQL server...
Hi,
A client uses File Replication Services to synchronize two servers acros a DSL-VPN WAN.
This works fine, but we had to turn on FRS for about 100 directories one at the time:
The master has about 20 GB data, which was pre-copied with a portable harddisk to the "target". But this...
Hi,
I have a PC that is acting as a W2000 server, even domain controller in an active directory domain.
It is put in a remote site on a wireless 11Mbs VPN WAN link to have a fail save solution for the Active Directory, as both other DC's are in the same room.
I use it as a workstation with...
Hi,
I wnat to
My setup:
The main office has some IPX service on Netware3.2. A small sub-office is hidden behind a NAT router that does not route IPX.
Now I have two Windows 2000 servers that are candidates for making an IPX tunnel over PPTP. The one behind the NAT router is the VPN client...
Hi,
I want to play around with NW6 a bit. So I want to use VMware workstation (on Win2K) to install it a few times.
Mainly to fiddle around with apache/php and mysql..
But the installation hangs when the X-server is starting (is console-one really needed to complete the setup?).
It stops when...
Hi,
I got my CCA with the free voucher a few months ago, as mentioned in this forum by Citrixengineer.
Now I haven't seen yet the announcement of the 50% off voucher you can get through:
http://www.citrixcertification.com/certified.html
As I do all exams through self study to keep the costs...
Must be a simple thing: we have some VBA code in a MS-Word 7 template. But somehow when we make a new document with that template the macro is not saved in the document itself.
Where do I set the template that it will save the macro into the document?
TIA very much
Loek Gijben
Hi,
We have a MF1.8 on NT4TSE box on the other end of a slow WAN. Therefore we don't want to hang it in the NT domain of the headquarters. Also citrix advices not to set up a MF box as a domain controller.
There is no other NT box abvailable at that site.
So the MF is a stand alone server.
Now...
Hi,
I'm stunned that a renowned product like GroupWise 5.5 Internet Agent (GWIA) does not seem to comply to Internet standards:
Whenever an MX-record is not available for a domain the RFC states that an SMTP connection must be attempted to the host directly.
So if somewhere.org would not have...
Hi,
It must be something that has come up at more sites: a user group has a shared folder, but notify doesn't indicate on newly arrived messages even though this folder is chosen in notify-options.
How come?
TIA,

Hi,
We use a Cisco 3600 to dial in. After verification on a RADIUS server the user is dialled back. Because of this direct-ICA is out of the question and we must use a PPP session.
Now the Win32 ICA client can start a DUN connection, but that one stays open after closing the ICA session...
Hi,
I've run into a setup here:
Leased line with standard external 33k4 async modems on com1, Win95 with win32 ICA client and server = NT4TSE + Metaframe 1.8.
Now the connection is set-up with WIN95 DUN and PPP,so in effect a TCP/IP connection oevr a modem line.
IMHO this can be done more...
Hi,
We run the win32 ICA client off the network, and we use WFCRUN32 instead of PN.EXE.
One of the virtues of using WFCRUN32 (with a load of switches :^) is that no local profile directory will be autocreated.
But now I wonder where the ICA client will store its cache when...
