No (SCSI) CDROM found under w2k

no DHCP or DNS in w2k update install
i cannot get DHCP or DNS in a w2k update install... Similar system works fine (different NIC and server vs AdvSrv) ... can swap cables and no change. There is a D-Link router connected to cable modem. Copied identical tcp/ip properties pages in the local area connection section but no joy...
