ntbackup log files

I have ntbackup on NT4 scheduled to backup various directories, and all works fine. However, the log file seems to record every file backed up and so is becoming very large very quickly. Is there a way to minimise the amount of detail recorded in the log file?

Contacts folder missing in some mailboxes

I have the Contacts folder missing in some Outlook 2K / Exchange 5.5 mailboxes. The only diff I can see is that some mailboxes were created automatically when the NT account was created, others were created with no matching user account (just using the administrator as the primary NT account)...

    no display in dos

My display works fine in Windows but not DOS. On boot up, the monitor doesn't seem to get a signal until Windows loads. I need to re-install Windows but can't do it by the startup disk. Any ideas?

    Monitoring incoming and outgoing mail

Does anyone know the best way to achieve the above? For incoming, I might set up an alternate recipient to recieve copies of messages, although this means that if the sender asks for a receipt they will get two. For outgoing, I'm stuck!! Any ideas?

I have a user who, when creating new mail, cannot see all the email addresses from the contacts list. This only seems to be the case on her own PC - all are present when that account is accessed from another PC. Any thoughts?

    Corrupt Windows files

I have just upgraded a number of Compaq Deskpro XL 5120 PCs. One of them is now not loading Windows 95, not even into Safe Mode. I get the following...."While initialising device IOS: Error: An I/O subsystem driver failed to load. Either a file in the .\iosubsys subdirectory is corrupt...

    Re-installing Windows 95

I have several old Compaq Deskpro XL 5120's on which I would like to do a re-install. However, they have no CD-ROM and insufficient disk space to copy the files from a shared CD-ROM on the network. When trying to re-install from a shared CD-ROM on the network I get error SU0168 - windows...

    file permissions

I have a PC which will not allow me to create a new folder in the root of the C drive. My main reason for wanting to do this is to run a batch program to update anti-virus s/w - this copies a temporary file to the root. All other PCs allow this no problem. The PC is a PIII 500, 64 MB RAM...

small business server 2000 and smtp mail

I have SBS 2000 which I'm trying to use to pick up smtp mail through an ISDN router (3COM ISDN Lan Modem) but with great difficulty. Does anyone know if SBS can do this? I've had to use POP3 in the meantime. Also, I'd like users to have themselves identified as if they are sending mail from...

    Powerpoint embedded images

I have several presentations with many images embedded. I would like to link to these images instead of embedding them (to reduce the size of the file). However, the original image files are missing. Is there a way to export these embedded images into their original file format?

    Losing network drives

A Win98 user has just recently started losing mappings to network drives on an NT server. Re-mapping works only occasionally. Also, Network Neighborhood now only shows his PC. TCP/IP and NetBEUI are installed. Can anyone help? This PC is virtually useless without network access.

I installed SNMP on an NT Server and since then have been getting the above error when right-clicking on a printer to look at the properties. It doesn't seem to be causing any great problems but is worrying nevertheless. Any ideas gratefully appreciated.

    Viewing Outlook diaries

I have a small 4 PC peer-to-peer network, all using Outlook. Is it possible for users to view each others diaries? I had considered importing the relevant *.pst file but thought this would simply merge both rather than allowing one to view the other. Any ideas gratefully received. TIA

shortcut menu appears on left mouse click

I have a user who gets the context/shortcut menu appearing on left mouse clicks. I've checked the mouse button settings in Control Panel but they're fine. It's perhaps not very serious but it is very annoying. Has anyone come across this? TIA
