    Windows 98 trouble

    I have downloaded files, put them on my desk top, in my documents...everywhere and nothing will open them. It keeps saying Winword needed to open these files...Help??? It is driving me crazy...So I was going to re-run Windows 98 but purchased this computer second hand and have no Windows 98...
