Hi
I have an SQL 2000 database being used by a classic ASP web site. I have a simple form on a page collecting data which has happily been entering data into the database for years.
All of a sudden I am getting timeout messages on the web site even though nothing has been altered in the code...
We are using ISA Server 2000 to filter access to the Internet. By using Site and Content Rules in conjunction with Destination Sets we can control which users have access to the web, and can restrict most people to specific sites that we define.
If a user tries to visit a non authorised site...
We use the Exchange Messenger facility under Exchange 2000. Until recently all was well, then a few days ago the contact lists stopped updating. Users are not notified when new users sign in and if a user goes away this is not reflected on all the other lists. The only way to update the list...
I have just run the Shields Up (www.grc.com) test on our SBS2000 Server with ISA Server installed to see what ports were open. It reports that only port 23 Telnet is open. I've tried all sorts but cannot get this port to close.
Packet Filtering is enabled. There are no web or server...
The transaction log for one of our SQL Server databases is 4GB and I need to reduce it.
I've used the MS knowledge base and it says to run code "DBCC SHRINKFILE(pubs_log, 2), replacing this with my own log file name and size.
But it does not say HOW to run this, where to go to do it. Is this...
The C drive on our Windows 2000 server has suddenly become full (i.e. about 7mb free). Not long ago there was over 200MB free.
I have checked all the obvious things like temporary files, internet files, windows update files etc but they are already empty. None of the users store files on this...
I have written a program in VB6 which uses Crystal Reports 8.5 to export a report to a PDF. All works fine on my machine. I have installed on a Windows XP machine and the export function will not work. All I get is "Missing or out-of-date dll"
I used the Package and Deployment Wizard and...
I have written an app that accesses an MS Access database on a server over the LAN. In our office over 100MB LAN all is fine. However in another office on what I think is a 10MB LAN the database is so slow to return data, and I can't honestly believe it's the network causing the problem.
Here...
I am trying to understand how best to implement record locking on a program that may potentially be used by several people accessing a central database. I've spent a few hours reading around about record locking, so here is what I want to achieve and what I've implemented so far from what I've...
Does anyone know why the PageRank reported in the Google Toolbar for a site is sometimes higher when the page is visted via Google than when going there directly?
As an example: visit http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=2100GREY - it has a PageRank of 1 / 10. Now do a search on Google...
There was an alert in Event Viewer that ISA Server had detected an All Port Scan Attack etc. I looked in the logs, and around the same time, the packet filter log has different entries. Normally the "filter-rule" column says BLOCKED but then it changed to FRAGMENT during the time of this port...
I am trying to use the Inet control in vb6 to download a database from an FTP site. I can connect to the server OK, and it says it is connected, but the command to retrive the file just doesn't seem to do anything.
I am using the command
Inet1.Execute , "GET database.mdb...
How can I prevent certain users on our network going onto the Internet? We are using Small Business Server 2000 with ISA Server. I have setup a rule in Site and Content Rules that denies access for me, as an experiment, but I can still go online even with this rule in place.
Please can...
I have inherited an Exchange 2000 Server installation where the drive on which the mailboxes are stored reports only 40mb free, out of a capacity of 8GB. But the total size of all the mailboxes is only about 900MB, and we have deleted some large messages at that, and the free space has not...
Ever since I installed a new video game (and presumably directx 9 as well) Windows Messenger in XP Pro refuses to start. When I try, svchost.exe takes 100% of cpu and the only way to stop it is to kill the messenger process.
I have looked through lots of posts and tried everything including...
Please can someone tell me how to set up Exchange 2000 server so that messages sent to a specific email address are automatically replied to, in order to let the sender know the message has been received.
I have tried creating a rule in Outlook that says "have server reply with a specific...
When messages for sending externally via SMTP are submitted to Exchange, instead of being sent they go straight to a queue called "Messages with an unreachable destination."
I have spent a couple of days looking into this and haven't made much progress. I have checked the SMTP...
All our office machines have suddenly stopped being able to log in to certain SSL sites. Either a blank page is produced or it says connection timed out or host is not available. The message varies and not all SSL sites are affected.
We are using Internet Explorer 6 (but other browsers won't...
Our Exchange 2000 server is set to send outgoing messages to an SMTP connector, in which I have specified the IP address given to us by the ISP. Up unil a few days ago this worked fine.
Now, whenever anyone sends a message, it goes straight into a queue called "Messages with an...
I have written a program in VB to allow operators (up to 6) to add entries to a table in an SQL Server 2000 database. I am using an ADO connection, so each operator's copy of the program will create a connection to SQL Server, open the table and add the records. The recordset is then closed...
