Running Solaris 8 on a V880. The /var/adm/sadm/pkg/* was deleted. We do not back this up. Any way to recreate this. I tried to reinstall the latest patch bundle, but it gives all Return 8 and 25's. thanks, Eric PS: If you don't back this up at least once, you should.

I have a newly loaded and patched Solaris 5.8 box. I have just setup dns by entering my domain and nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf and by changing my /etc/nsswitch.conf. I can succesfully do a nslookup on anything. I cannot ping by hostname. I can ping by IP. Any help would be appreciated. thanks!
