Hi,
I have just built a new webserver running 2003 server and IIS 6, we run novell bordermanager as a proxy.
DNS is hosted on a microsoft box for microsoft servers and a netware box has lookups to the internet for master DNS records and replication.
My trouble comes in that I cannot get...
A colleague has managed to select a novell client option so that it doesn't display a username field password field or advanced dropdown on the client, running on windows 2000 server.
Not good, anyone have any idea's on how to get back into the server to restore it so people can actually log in...
Hi, its been working well up until now just uploaded another image and its not being published, it seems to be missing the riprep.sif file in the image folder.
Any idea's why? What services would I restart to restart RIS?
Hi,
I'm getting a large amount of IP address conflicts, its hosted on netware 5.1, we have two private ranges, theres around 400 IP's available and around 300 required IP's, so in theory we should always have 100 reserved.
any idea of how to solve this one?
Quite happy with a new RIS server and I'm just playing around with images at the moment.
One question though, I'd be suprised if microsoft allow you to buypass it but...
Is there a workaround to slip stream a username organisation and software key into the image?
cheers,
steven

Hi,
We currently operate citrix metaframe over a WAN, I'd like to remove the netbios name server from the dhcp...
I've got the RIS server working and it works when DHCP is hosted from active directory, I require DHCP to be run from netware 5.1.
I've de-activated the DHCP scope under active directory.
Under the DNS/DHCP management console for netware there is a 'set boot parameter options' under the subnet...
I've got it setup and running, BUT, the image I'm testing with is 2.7 GB, and its taken 1 hour up till now to copy the files across to the PC being imaged.
Anybody got any tips or hints, I'm going to make sure I'm running 100mb full duplex at the switch as soon as it finishes then try again and...
Basically, the client boots from a RIS boot disk and the NIC is PXE comaptible.
This is what happens..

DHCP: ....

File transfer error file not found.
Error: No reply from a TFTP server.
Press any key to reboot syetem.
Any info?
Not the right place, but you know...
Netbios runs on our lan from a central server.
Should WAN connections need access to this? i.e. remote sites running at different subnets.
Basically.
I've set up a RIS server for use within our organisation.
When testing it on a test subnet, I had dhcp setup on the RIS server and the dhcp responded to a clients request for an IP.
Now, I tried the RIS server on our live netowrk and DHCP is issued by a netware 5.1 server and the...
Network consists of:
Netware running primary DNS zone.
Windows 2000 server non-active directory, as a secondary DNS server.
I'm playing with 2000 advanced server with RIS, I want to setup DNS on the this server without effecting the current network.
The old domain and new active directory...
At our site we currently have a non-active directory 2000 network.
I wish to implement RIS which I have done on a seperate subnet, RIS obviously needs active directory.
The RIS server is the domain controller for a new domain.
If I were to introduce the RIS server to the 'Live' network along...
I'm connecting to a remote site via a les circuit.
router at remote site, 2 ethernet interfaces, 192.168.1.1 at interface at remote site 192.168.2.2 on interface connected to les circuit at remote site, 192.168.2.1 at local site on switch.
would it be better practise to connect the 2.2...
A few routers are running out of memory and hanging/running slow since a virus outbreak which is now cured.
How can I see what is causing the hangs? packet sniffer?
At the moment the only way I can track down a user is with an IP address, not very useful to say the least, I would like to setup some form of system that logs the NDS username on the proxy log.
Any idea's?
Our network has many remote sights, two of which are on seperate IP ranges and have routers on a stick allocating IP addresses, they have recently started allocating IP addresses with a 255.0.0.0 mask when they are class c addresses?
help.
