    XP Registry problems, can't run .EXE files .lnk either

    My Xp box no longer runs any programs. My desktop icons are all generic except the basic ones, like My computer..... I have looked through this forum and thought I had it pegged from another post but no. Maybe someone out there can offer me some insight. I can't recover from a restore point...
