Does anybody know how to get callback work from ISDN clients connectin remotely to a 3640 router with async modems? I can get this working fine for analogue connections, but not for ISDN.
Thanks in advance,
Daniel,
Hi there,
I am trying to redistribute several BGP learned routes into EIGRP with the config below:
router eigrp 1
redistribute bgp 65100
network x.x.x.x
no auto-summary
This router is obviously running BGP and knows about four routes from the BGP speaker in another AS. Trouble is, all the...
Hi there,
I have a 4700 connecting to a LS-1010, with a link over a 34MB ATM to a LS-1010 connected to an RSM.
4700---LS1010----------34MB ATM-----------LS1010-------RSM
4700 cannot get an ARP entry for RSM, although I can do an ATM ping from one LS1010 to the other. When I debug IP ICMP and...
Hi there,
I have a Win2000 server running Cisco VPN client trying to connect to a remote sites Cisco VPN server. I have located a Cisco PIX 515 but, although the VPN gets established, I cannot do anything after that (for ex, cannot ping their local addresses or access their servers)
Can anyone...
Hi there,
I have a Cisco 3640 router connected to 2 ISDN30 lines that we are trying to use as a dialup router. I have tried configuring the router but no no avail. When I dial the number from a land line I simply get "number is temporarily out of order", and the modems show a failed...

As I understand, MLS is not supported on an interface with a dynamic access list configured. I have a VLAN interface on my RSM that has the established command in one of the statements (making it a dynamic list), and I want to configure MLS on that interface. From what I have read, this is not...
Can anybody tell me how good router simulators are, and what ones are best? Do you have free will to configure the virtual routers how you want, or are you only allowed to follow the simulators step by step guide?
I have heard Boson are good, and CiscoPress are not - any others that are...
Can somebody explain to me EIGRP summarization? I understand what summarization is and the commands to configure it, but what I am unsure of is exactly what I am configuring into the router.
For arguments sake, if I have two interfaces:
FE1 - 161.76.8.1/24
FE2 - 161.76.9.1/24
am I configuring...
Hello everyone,
I am looking to find out some information on how to design a VLAN network, and the possible effects of poor design. I have heard that for a mixed protocol (IP and IPX) network, you should limit the number of workable devices (wks, switches, routers and hubs) to 254 per VLAN. Is...
When you do a "show processer cpu", you get a break down of all the interupts, such as IP Input and then a percentage as to how much CPU is being assigned to that process. Well does anybody know exactly what the "virtual exec" process is?
Evertime I issue a show run the...
I currently have a Catalyst 5500 with an integrated RSM, this handles all the InterVlan routing plus routing all of our Internet bound traffic. If I wanted to get a second RSM or 4700 router, then connect it via a series of ISL trunks to the Cat5500 and have it in a seperate VLAN, how would I...
I have an RSM that is experiencing very high traffic levels sporadically. Over last night, two of our VLAN interfaces recieved 450 and 3000 dropped packets respectively. I have used a packets sniffer on the two LANs, but can see no unduely high traffic. Is there any way (on the router) that I...
I have a Cat5500 with Windows 2000 and Sun Microsystem servers attached into the 10/100TX line card. All are set to full duplex and 100Mbps. When the switch is downed for any reason, the ports with Windows 2000 servers attached keep their duplex and speed settings, but the ones with Sun...

Have also posted this in Windows 2000 forum.
I have a Cat5500 with an integrated RSM that routes between our many VLANs plus handles out Internet traffic. Every 2 minutes we are encountering a throttle on one of the VLAN interfaces on the RSM. After doing packet analysis, I found that the...
How can I stop my Windows 2000 and 98 clients from announcing themselves every 2 mins or so. Everytime this happens, it causes my central router to freeze due to the amount of traffic.
any ideas would be great
Daniel,
When using IP Helper for say DHCP b/casts, you configure the IP address of the DHCP server on the interface that doesn't have one locally. Then, when the router recieves the b/cast on that interface, say FE1/1, it searches its interfaces for one configured for the network of the address you...
