I'm fairly new to PL/SQL so please bear with my descriptions and terminology!
I have a procedure where I'm trying to process a choice of 2 cursor depending on an input parameter. So, I have 2 cursors, cA and cB (both of which output the same number of columns and types, cA returns a single...
Hi, I know this is possible, but I've never had to do it before or come across it so I'm not sure of the correct terminology for it.
We have 2 databases, Live and Query, which are identical, although Query is a full backup of Live every night so 1 day behind.
All of our 'extra' ref tables and...
How do you go about unlocking a record in 8i?
I can't do the update either thru the application or via select for update or by row_id.
Is it possible to find out which session/user has the record locked?
I'm a bit green to all this so please be gentle!!
:-)
Thanks
I've got a Seagate Barracuda 160gb which has 2 partitions on it, both of which are nearly full.
The drive shows in bios and in Windows Disk Management and Seagate Discwizard but not in My Computer.
WinXP Disk Management reports the space as unallocated so i'm assuming the file structure is...
I found a solution that will highlight the first row of each group when the value changes but what i'd like to do is be able to highlight each group of rows with alternating colours where the group sizes are dynamic.
e.g. We have groups identified by a unique ID and are typically clustered in...
I'll state right off the top that i am LEFT HANDED.
I currently use a Logitech wheel mouse (the old favourite generic one that became oem for many people like Compaq etc) at home and work and i really like them but i've started to get pain in my little finger as it sits sort of scrunched up...
I'm trying to get a customers laptop running again. Its Win98se and the problem app is Olympus Camedia 4.2
The computer works fine but whenever you go to browse albums within Camedia it loads thumbnails then gives an invalid page fault in MSVCRT.DLL.
I've uninstalled Camedia and deleted the...
My PC has become infuriatingly slow when trying to do some actions with files.
I first noticed it when i was trying to play mp3, wav, avi, mpg files in media player. It seems to be the same for all my players (winamp, realplayer) After double clicking it pauses for ages before finally...
My PC is less than a year old based on a Gigabyte GA-7NN 400l mobo 2500XP Barton, 512mb Crucial ram, 120 gb 7200.7 8mb cache Barracuda containing Windows boot partition.

I'll start by saying i'm a big fan of CRT's, especially my Sony, great image, good colour, etc
Recently i've been noticing that on dark colours or black there are light lines that run across, left to right then diagonally down and back to the left side of the screen, then across left to right...
Working on a PC that won't start. When the power is switched everything powers up, fans spin, disks turn, CD and floppy drives turn and show lights but no display and no beeps. It has onboard video. Unfortunately i can't see if it's got a mobo power led and i can't see reference in the manual...
Hi, I had a similar problem with a numbers being text data type and someone here posted that you multiply the cell by 1 and it changes to a number data type.
I've got half a column that is a DATE (and responds to formatting for dates and defaults to a right alignment in a cell) and the other...
Sorry to post this about another forum but I know there are other users from BOB here... :-)
Today, using my bookmark for BOB I've been getting a 403 error and I just wanted to know if anyone else was experiencing problems or aware of BOB site changes or whether I should start investigating...

Obviouslyu this is a pain when you have long lists. Anyone got a solution?
Cheers
I've been asked to set up a cordless mouse for a Powerpoint presentation so that the left button advances the slide show by one slide (default) and the right (or any other button) will select the previous slide.
I've found the option where you can hyperlink on click but it seems to only affect...
I've acquired a P3 800mhz system on a Gigabyte GA 06xxx M/B with a pair of Maxtor 7200 40gb HD's with twin sticks of 128mb PC133.
I'm attempting to install XP pro on it but everytime it gets to a certain point it can't copy or read certain files from the CD. I'm wondering if it could be due to...
I've exported a table to Excel from Access and noticed that when I select a cell it shows the value with a leading ' (single quote) when viewed in the formula bar. This does not show in the actual cell.
Does anyone know why this occurs, if it's possible to turn it off (find/replace fails to...
Hi, not sure if here is the right place for it but I'm sure someone'll put me right if it's not... :-)
I produce music using my PC for sequencing and recently have lost quite a bit of work due to 'forgetting' to hit ctrl-s before occassional lockups/crashes.
Unfortunately my sequencer...
Probably an obvious one this but I've been using SQL for a while and now i'm back with Excel and can't remember the equivalent *blush*
I want to do a nested IF where i'm testing on multiple values. I'd normally use a LIKE or an IN in SQL, what's the excel equivalent?
Pseudocode:
E.G. IF(A1 IN...
I'm about to build a new machine but am going to re-use the HD from the old one. It's on XP Pro.
Will I need to a complete format and re-install or will I get away with just doing a re-install of Windows, thus preserving my installed programs and data.
The only hardware that's changing is...
