After successful install on 733Mhz with 768Mb pc133 RAM I'm a little under recommended hardware requirements. Has anyone found a source for what items of this bloatware can be turned off?

seemingly out of nowhere, all my folder attributes are Read Only, and revert to that even if changed. I can't copy them. These same folders don't display this when accessed over the network, so it's something within XP Pro on this machine. Hope to avoid a re-install. Has anyone heard of this...
all folders remain "Read Only"...and I can't get them to hold the setting when I de-select it in Properties. I seem to remember something about Symantec or Win Fax causing something similar, but I can't seem to find any information. There was a registry edit of some kind. Any ideas?
I've got a W2k PRo machine that won't boot after installing Service Pack 4. Can't find ntldr. I ran the install disk and chose Repair to get it to boot. System files are in a WINDOWS folder instead of WINNT. I suspect the MBR is looking in the wrong place. I uninstalled the Serv. Pack 4, but...

I set up a small peer-to-peer network with W2K machine(FAT), a Win98 and a WinME. Everything is fine re: sharing etc...except the ME can't access the W2k. The 98 can. Both can access the ME. Does ME require special settings on the W2k machine? Why is it different than the Win 98? Anybody have...
Installing WinFax Pro 10.0 on Win98 is no trouble, when I try to install on NT Workstation or Win 2000 Pro it creates a conflict with MS Word, which becomes totally unaccessable. Has anyone else seen this problem?
The time display (tray clock) in my win98 SE has never been very accurate, but lately has been losing time faster and faster, up to ten minutes per twentyfour hours. Is this an indication of OS decay? Where can I find more info on how this "clock" actually works?
