This is driving me insane. I have set up a Windows 2003 Server from scratch which acts as Domain controller, DNS and a print server.
A user can log on okay, but the GPO doesn't appear to be coming through to the clients. I have only set a few options within the GPO, one of them is supposed to...
Hope someone can help.
We have 3 Windows 2000 Servers, one is a domain controller, one is the DNS server, and the third is a member server. All have been updated with Service Pack 4. The problem we are having is with the member server. Every minute the event viewer display the following error...
I know this is about Microsoft Access, but I think the problem is Server related... We are running approximately 300 stations (Mix of Xp and W2K), connected to a Windows 2000 Server.
The problem is that access databases, used by pupils are losing data when open... Tables go missing, and now and...
We are running windows 2000 server with mostly w2k workstations attached to the domain. However, since adding new XP workstations, drive connections to the server have been dropping off, thus work is being lost, specifically Open Microsoft Access databases. Is there a reason why the server and...
When an XP Pro user logs off our 2000 server network domain, it tries to synchronize files causing all sorts of errors. Microsoft states that this can be switched off using a group policy. I've set the group policy to stop synchronizing, but to no avail. The XP workstation still tries to...
We are running Windows 2000 server with approx 350 workstations attached... Most of them are running Windows 2000, however the newer models are running XP Pro... (Approx 80 of them)... The XP machines continually lose connection to the server, not all at the same time, just randomly... Logging...
We are currently running Windows 2000 and XP w/s on windows 2000 servers.
What would be the best way to stop users locking the workstation using the familiar Ctrl/alt/del.?
I read an article which told you how to use registry editor to disable the feature, does this mean I would have to go to...
We have 2 servers, a DC and a member server. Just recently, the member server is producing the same event error every second or so, until the log is full. The error message is as follows :

DCOM got error "Class not registered" from the computer holygrail when...
I know I've asked this before, but thought I'd give it another go as I didn't get any response. So please forgive me in advance :)
We now have 3 servers and it would be more cost effective to change from per server to per seat licensing.
Problem is, when I go into licensing and click on 'per...
Hi all
I've decided to change from per server to per seat, am I okay proceeding when the error message says :
"License violoation. You have requested a change that violoates the license agreement. The license for this product only allows for a one-time change from a Per server to a Per seat...
Sorry about this, but I still haven't got to grips with W2K server licensing.
If I change to per seat, what happens with regard to licenses when it was running in per server mode? Do they 'carry' over?
In per seat mode, do I have to physically add licenses to the server, or is it done the same...
We want to format and reinstall w2k server on our DNS server. The last person who set this up made it a Domain Controller to run alongside the main DC. Is it okay just to format/re-install immediately, or do we have to do something to it first?
Thanks.
We currently have around 1500 users on our network, they all get the same mandatory profile from the server. When they log off, some (not all) have their profile stored locally on the client PC they were using. I know you can set a Group Policy to stop roaming profiles being written locally...
We have three servers, all Windows 2000 server. 250 clients attach to all three servers. Since taking over this job, I've noticed the licensing mode is set to per server mode on all three servers. (250 concurrent connections)
Server A is DC, Server B is DC/DNS, Server C is member server. Is it...
I need your advice and wisdom!
We currently have a 2 Windows 2000 servers running 250+ clients (W2K Pro and XP-Pro). One as a DC, the other as DNS. We have now bought a third server, and at the moment it's just being used as a member server (I believe!... It's attached to the network and is...
I'm sure this will be a simple one to help me with. Is there a piece of software out there that will check a text file for content, on a network. If it contains text, then send a message to all clients on the network using this text and wait for the user to respond by clicking a button...
We have approximately 250 Windows 2000 PC's in the school. Around 3000 users have the same mandatory profile which resides on the Windows 2000 server.
Now, I've just added 20 Windows XP Pro machines onto the domain, and all is well until students log on and, obviously, automatically downloading...
