I have a large Access db originally created in MSO 2000 and now updated to MSO 2007.
Using MS Word for a mail merge, I use a query within the db as my recipients list. However, when I get to the "select recipients" bit, I point to the db which shows a list of tables and queries to choose from...
A friend can send new emails with attachments to a variety of receivers OK, but cannot forward messages with attachments.
All receivers, including me, receive the message with a box where the picture should be, and no paper clip.
Her Sent Items box is the same.
So something is stripping the...
I have a SS of 8 columns and over 50,000 rows with a mixture of blank spaces and numerical data.
I need to count cells with data in them starting from column A, and stop counting when the first blank cell is reached.
In other words, if cells A1 to H1 have data in them EXCEPT C1 and F1, then I...
I have inherited a database that contains a couple of fields labelled LastName and GivenNames. The data in the GivenNames fields contains one or two names.
It is now time to split this field into FirstName and MidName. How can I do this?
I know it is simple in Excel, and I thought of...
This is a doozy.
W2K SP4
User shuts down and restarts the next day to be confronted with a vanilla desktop with basic set of icons. My documents, My pictures etc all empty. All folders created under this user are gone. Everything in local settings gone.
It looks just like it would if the...
Hi all,
OE today decided to stop downloading messages from the server.
I can see waiting messages there using webmail;
I can send and receive via webmail;
I can send via OE to myself and see the message, via webmail, arrive in the mailbox;
But when Receiving in OE it goes through...
Is there a way to copy objects via removeable media (cd,floppy, thumb drive etc).
At the moment I have a copy of a database at home where I am updating its objects (queries, reports etc). I then go to the customers site where the live database is, and manually update the objects there.
There...
I have a Word merge template, that points to a MS Access query, that requires a Start and End date to be entered.
When running the merge it promps for the Start and End dates TWICE.
Running the query on its own within Access works fine.
Using MS Office 2000 (I know it's old but, hey)
Any...
Just a tad unsure about this. I have a adsl modem/router connected to a d-link router. Both have dhcp enabled - should one of them be disabled, or does the d-link router override the modem/router?
I tried disabling the modem one, but that caused a bit of mayhem for awhile.
The modem router...
What is the thinking nowadays regarding b/u media? Ext network drive or removable drive?
How does one satisfy the "offsite" requirement with a external device?
And how do you make a removeable hd "hot swappable"?
Cheers,

I have exactly the same problem as this thread thread41-1044974.
Opening, and printing the files via the Intranet is no problem. However, the authors, with "full control" rights, open these files via Windows Exlorer, they open as RO. ("Read-Only" in the title bar). The files are definitely...
Got a new system with Intel P4 930, GA 8I945P-G-RH motherboard, 200 Gb Seagate IDE HD, and 2Gb ram.
Installing Win XP from CD, it loads all the preliminary files into ram OK, but when it tries to start windows, I get a blue screen error 7B.
BIOS sees the hd OK, and using SIW via the UBCD CD...
Have just upgraded to a new system, and now WMP is asking for various codecs and compressors.
I put the old HD in as a slave, so I was hoping to be able to copy them across from there. Is that an option? and if so, where can they be located?
Cheers,
Brodie
I have a HD that seems to have a short on the controller board. With it plugged in, the PSU will not power up, and there is the characteristic expensive brown smell around the board.
This would normally be a bin job, but the owner is pretty anxious to recover some stuff, if at all possible. I...
I am looking for something that will enable people on a small P2P (non-domain) network to communicate internally.
I have used MSN Messenger where all users have a regular email address, but I need something for situations where they don't. All workstations are using XP home or Pro, and not...
I am looking to install a plastic ID card system for a club with about 900 members.
Looking around, there seems to a be a plethora of printers and ID card systems available.
Anyone have any experience with these things and what are the traps and pitfalls to avoid, if any?
Cheers,
Brodie
I've heard of dual processors, but this is rediculous. Have a P4 system with Win ME that has almost every system device duplicated, one with the yellow flag. Std Floppy Controller, Std 101 keyboard, P/S mouse port, MPU-401 MIDI device, and the list goes on. Apart from that, pc seems to be...
Office 2003.
In my teaching lab, on some workstations, when inserting a clipart it appears as a autoshape. i.e. an image box appears with no image, then right click within the box and select "edit image" the image appears with a grey box around it. But most of the normal image formatting...
Installed a new motherboard (ASUS A7V400-MX) and before closing it up, checked system and CPU temps. Found CPU idling at aroung 70C, although it didn't feel all that hot on the heatsink.
Turned it off overnight and then powered up and went straight to the BIOS temps. Room temp was 22, system...
