I've quite a few customers on SBS2003, MS support will stop 2015, I need to give these customers a heads up on spending money in the next 2 years - many of these server boxes will not take a new system, so they're looking at new server SW and a new box to put it on.
BUT
What do I recomend? Likly...
I'm lost - I've set up a SBS2011 machine, and just need to configure RDT for Admin only - don't want remote client lisences. I cannot see what to do! I'm operating within the grace period, so no imediate panic, but if I try and follow the 'The Remote Desktop Session Host server is within its...
Can I do this? Attach a time capsule via ehternet to an existing LAN network? The TC then is available to a LAN attached Mac to use time machine to.
Don't want to use the TC as a router (doesn't support LAN to LAN VPN termination).
I'm going spare trying to understand the Apple docs, most of...
Ho hum, I'm confused - IP webcam on my internal network (192.168.111.17) can be seen by internal users on both port 80 and it's alternative port (8080). Vigor 2910 dual wan router set up with port 8080 forwarding to e.g. 111.23 my OKI network printer and an external user can see the printer web...
I've a new built sbs2003 SP2 machine which seems fine EXCEPT when I try open Monitoring and Reporting in system manager I get presented with a 'connect to server.domain.local' login prompt. I'm loged into a RDT session using the administrator account on the domain, but which ever combination of...
This is going to sound like a scam, but stay with me please.
I need to rebuild a server 2003 system, and the R2 disk 1 is damaged (the CD drive has some how scratched it to the extent that it won't read).
I've got the registration number - I've got the software box, disk 2, licence agreement -...
We build a few new PCs a month, these machines are usally going out to individuals/ small organisations. I'd like to set up a WSUS server to save time downloading updates from the web. What I'd like is a pair of batch files that I load to the newly built PC, run the 1st which hacks the registry...
I've two worksheets in a workbook, sheet2 is stuffed full of data, sheet 1 allows me to view selections of the data.
When I make e.g. sheet1 D4 =Sheet2!G15, I'd like D5 to show the value in sheet2!H16.
Now the cleaver bit - when I change the reference in D4 to any cell in sheet2, I'd like D5 to...
I give up trying to understand Microsoft's licensing. Does anyone know if it's possible (and from who) to download legitimate Office 2007 licences?
I build PCs for customers (not many, maybe 1 a week) and would like to offer 2007 as an option. I can therefore legitimately buy OEM licences, but...
I'm still not satisfied that I've got a sure fire way of cleaning machines of the AV2009/ AV2010 virus. Seems a bit hit and mis, with combos of Malwarebytes, SpyBot, AVG etc. etc. Best way seems to be to remove drive and as a slave drive run scans then boot it up and scan again. I'd like to...
Ho hum, I've a boxed legitimate copy of Office 2007 Pro installed. Outlook is showing as 'non genuine', but all the other apps are OK, and if I try and register it tells me I'm allready registered.
In ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS there is only one copy of Office 2007.
How can one app be unhappy, but the...
What am I doing wrong? Need to gain access to stored messages from off site. With 'return to AA' set to yes, I just get into a "please enter the mailbox number" loop never getting to anyware I can put in a password. With 'return to AA' set to no, I get a "exiting system, goodbye". Sure it's a...
Help please. Customer is expanding from a single site which is currently running an SBS2003 backed up using Umove. Customer will be located in two separate buildings with perhaps 6 people in one and 3 in the other, broadband and therefore a VPN between the two. Their business is getting to the...
Wondering about changing customer's inbound mail connection from the POP connector to full blown SMTP/ MX hosting.
I've been a lover of the POP route till now cos it allows me to uncouple any local broadband unreliability from any mail delivery problems i.e. customer's broadband fails, mail...
I've now got 2 G4 Powerbooks on the bench which have both failed following an update - one to 10.4.11 the other to 10.5.
Each now refuse to boot, and wont even boot from CD. They will still start up in target mode.
I've reset PRAM, NVRAM and the power settings but to no effect.
It's as though...
I'm trying to recover data from a cracked CD. I've glued a disk on top to hold it together, and would like to spin it slowly to minimise the chance of it cracking completly, and to reduce any out of ballance components.
Anyone know how to get a new drive to read at 1x or 2x. Using a very old...
An analogue phone on an ATA will pick up all calls and can make int. calls but on dialing a 9 gets busy tone instead of an ext. line.
Can some one talk me through the tick boxes on a Compact 6x16 please - As ever I'm sure I've not ticked something obvious, but I cant find it.
Thanks in advance
James
I've an installation of SBS2003 which was set up using the 5 'built in' CALs set to device licenses. Realise now that per user would be a better option. At initial build I can select the usage mode, CAN I CHANGE THE MODE ON AN ACTIVE SYSTEM?, and more importantly HOW?
Any clues welcome
Trying to debug a wired network in a building. The wiring is all over the place and there are hidden and switches (and perhaps even hubs) I've yet to unearth.
I sit at 2 PCs and know their local links are running at 100meg, but how do I know what sort of links they go through to get to each...

All the best
James
