We have an odd LDAP connection issue.
We have an x4140 server running Solaris 10 u6 (2 cpu dual core) that is an LDAP client, and is running an Oracle database.
We have an OpenLDAP Server (version openldap-2.4.13) running on Solaris 10.
The LDAP server runs happily, and everything is fine...
I have a lot of tables created in a Btrieve database format, i have installed Pervasive PSQL 9 ...
can anyone tell me how to 'import' my old data, or to add the tables to a DDF so that i can access them through the pervasive database, rather than direct from the file?
Thanks
we have a few machines/servers that don't like being disconnected from the 10MB hub to the 100MB switch some with Intel cards some with 3com cards.
since the switch will happily do 10MB/s or 100MB/s the machines should still work even if for some reason the cards would think that they are...
we had a scsi scanner that worked on one of our linux boxes, although it needed tweaking (the SANE driver and the Linux Kernel) ...
Linux also lacks a lot of networking support, and i was only using the 2.0 kernel (my hacks wouldn't port) ...
we wanted to get it working on a solaris box for a...
oki, finally got around to getting the latest samba downloaded ...
Win95 boxes connect to it no trouble, win98 boxes connect no trouble, win2K boxes connect no trouble.
Windows NT4 (SP6+) and WinXP (SP0) don't seem to even be able to sniff at it.
they all work fine on our 2.0 and 2.2 boxes ...
We have Unix servers at work, which are acting as a big firewall to the internet ...
we work behind the times as far as technology is concerned, and most of our machines still run Win95 some have Win98 ... but some of our latest lab machines were provided with a win2k computer.
now, we've had...
i currently have a procedure that phonetically compares strings.
we have a contacts database and some of our sales staff are morons and don't bother looking to see if a company already exists before trying to add the company to the system.
i'm using Oracle 8.0.5
to get around this when...
Some B*st*rd with too much time on their hands tried some very simple hacking on one of our solaris boxes, via the web server ...
however he seemed to be under the misapprehension that we were running on a windows based machine ...
worse than that he was connecting from a static IP from a...
We've just set up a Solaris 9 sparc box.
we have a lot of stuff in NIS+ on our network.
I modified the NIS+LDAPmapping file to work with only the tables in NIS+ that we use.
I've populated the directory_server using idsconfig (and associated commands)
i've modified /etc/default/rpc.nisd to...
umm ... we have a machine that isn't in the building, it is in fact half the country away, running Solaris 8 04/01 i believe. it is in a place that seems to have lots of power cuts #*$%^£~#, and it is still working ... sort of.
it has daemons running on it that are running fine, it has a modem...
My son is going to be 2 in a fortnight.
Lately i've found myself wondering whether when he's 15 and comes in saying 'I want to be a programmer!' i would be happy or sad.
We all want the best for our children and i'm wondering, although this is the field i'm good at, and the field i feel...
i have a few vi commands that i'd like converting to something that can run on a command line, something like sed'd be good ...
i've got an html doc that needs cleaning up ... someone elses i must say, i hand code mine, but he's got about 50 docs, and i was just thinking if there was an easier...
Umm, i know this sounds silly, but we have a problem that we've had for a while now and done a work around for it.
when a user sends email to our mail server the email is sent from user@<localmachinename> rather than as user@<our email address>
we currently have a cheat of sed'ing the mail...
Umm ... I'm just wondering if anyone out there has a one floppy recovery disk with support for NTFS5 and Parallel Port Zip, and if possible networking support.
Some of out latest machines into the building have come in with Win2K on them (shudder) but they work instruments ... one of them...
We seem to have a problem ... access.db works well and stops anything coming in perfectly.
for instance we can perfectly well stop anything coming from yahoo.com and yahoo.co.uk.
however we know some specific people at yahoo.com and yahoo.co.uk that we would like to allow to email us.
our access...
I would like to get the roles of the user currently logged on to the web server. With this information i can then add and remove links, buttons, fields ... everything according to which roles the user is in.
i looked into authid current_user in 8i but you can't use authid of a current user in...
is there any way of creating a multi dimensional array in oracle 8 pl/sql ...
like:
type an_array is table of integer index by binary integer;
type bn_array is table of an_array index by binary_integer;
if not is there a way around it?
Thanks
we have a procedure here with a cursor to access a table with about 115000 rows in it ... the table is a list of links, and works quickly if written without ambiguity. However the way we need to run it means that up to 2 parameters can be entered, and the more parameters entered the greater...
we work on Solaris Intel.
I was looking into this problem for some of our users at some sites:
We have UPS's connected to some of our servers ...
if we reboot from solaris the UPS effectively unplugs itself from the mains, giving us just over an hour before the battery powers down ...
it will...
i had problems getting cdrw to work on a sparc running solaris 8, except as root recently, and i thought i would say how i got it to work for all my users.
the first time a user tried to access 'cdrw' they were told that there were no devices (even though cdrw was set-uid to root)
i found i had...
