I am using BE version 11d to back up to disk. This is new for me. I back up to tape every night without a hitch. I set up an external USB drive, and set up the new back up job presumably correctly. Although I set it on a schedule, I chose Run Now to test it. Job immediately goes into Queued...
When I FTP an ascii file to an AS400 box, I get the following error message: Records written to file have been truncated. Data in file may not be valid. I am sending records that are 225 in length, and the records are coming over 170 in length. Help!
When I FTP a file from SCO to the IBM AS-400, any 'piping' sign '|' comes out as 'closing square bracket' ']'. Anyone have any ideas on how to correct this? Thanks. Joe
I have two SCO systems, one that is live, and one that is running as a backup. On my live system, when I try to access the on line manuals by typing a command like 'man pr', I get the following error: man : can't connect to scohttp, and then man : pr not found. Yet this command works normally on...
I have a few network printers connected that many people print to. Every once in a while (more often than I would like), a network printer will no longer print. When I go to the Print Job Manager in SCOADMIN, I will see multiple jobs backed up to the printer in question. When I delete all...
I am using FTP in Windows (DOS) to "put" a file onto my unix machine. The file comes to the unix side with the following permissions: -rw-r----- . Yet, if I am sitting in unix (with the exact same login that I use for FTP), and create a file, the permissions are: -rw-rw-r-- , which is really...
I am putting together a system with various old components, and trying to get it to boot. The hard drive is a clone of a working system. The boot gets all the way to the letter "G", where I get the following message "G hd_config" WARNING: hd: No Root Disk Controller Was Found. Then I get a...
In short, I GHOSTED from a 4.5GB drive to a 9GB drive, however, I am reasonably sure that I still have only 4.5GB of usable space on the target 9GB drive, unless I resize the partitions (specifically the /u partition). Is there a way to do this without losing data?
Joe
I built a backup system with same components as my main, and Ghost-ed the hard drive as well. Everything boots fine, with a few minor glitches, however the boot up is obvious looking for the 3Com card which it says it can not find. The bios of the machine knows its there because I see it in the...
I have two SCO boxes on a network, one is 192.168.0.200 (main), and one is 192.168.0.100 (backup). I am running a VPN tunnel between two buildings. The other default gateway is 192.168.1.1.
The VPN tunnel has been up for a while with no problems. From the other building we have been able to get...
I am successfully using Telnet to remotely get into my SCO system, however someone recently told me that this is not very secure, as it is not encrypted.
Firstly, is this true, and second, if it is true, is there a way to make Telnet more secure?
Thanks everyone.
When I execute the lp command to a network printer, it generates output on the screen similar to "request id - networkprinter0-XX" where XX is simply a counter of the request id's.
Is there any way to silence that output? I already tried 1>/dev/null AND 2>/dev/null, neither of which...
