    Hello, I'm new to Lunix and have a Red Hat Enterprise server installed. After a powercut on the weekend, one of the filesystem (not an important one) wont pass a fsck - does anyone know how I can bypass the fsck for a particular filesystem?

    Downgrading AIX from 5.3 to 4.3.3

    Hi, I am trying to downgrade AIX 5.3 to 4.3.3 on a pSeries box I have. I have tried to boot from the AIX 4.3.3 CD's but it hangs when it is checking the firmware. Has anyone had similar problems? Do I also need to downgrade the firmware? Thanks, Emma

    Full Root Partition now wont boot

    Hi, I am new to Solaris and I have a version 9 server that had a full root partition, unfortunatly the box was rebooted while it was in this state, and now it wont boot normally, I just get an OK prompt......does anyone know of a way around this? Thanks, Emma

    Hi, I recently had to replace a faulty disk, but since then, the PVID of the faulty disk is still hanging around in the system, I get the error: 0516-304 lsvg: Unable to find device id 004646aa268c270e in the Device Configuration Database. Any ideas how I clean this up...

    The host name for your address is not known

    Hi, I'm trying to rcp to another server, but I keep getting "rshd: 0826-826 The host name for your address is not known". I've put the hosts in the .rhosts etc, but is this something to do with DNS? Thanks, Emma
