I have a Win 2000 Pro machine that has been running remote desktop to connect to a server for several years. One day that staff comes in and it won't connect. It gets the error about the server being too busy or network problems preventing the connection.

Thanks...

I came across a client that is still running Netware 5. They are planning to eliminate the NW server ASAP. In the meantime, I need to make sure that this server is stable. I've found that the SYS vol was not mirrored. The old RAID card would not allow me to add a mirror to disk #1. So, I...
I'm working with a 2003 SBS Standard Server SP2. However this issue is more a general Windows issue not specific to SBS.
At some point the NTBackup application started freezing the server. We thought the issue was the tape hardware, but upon backing up to a BKF file we still have the same...

The other day one of our installers tried to install a KSU, but the client's site was wired very poorly. They were dealing with three analog business lines (CO/POTS). To top if off there were lightning storms in the area. Needless...
Has anyone ever seen DNS on WIN 2000 SP4 go unresponsive? One of our DCs will randomly go unresoponsive - - no dns queries will be responded to - - whether you test with a local name or an internet name. A restart of the DNS service solves the problem.
Ideas?

Is this even possible? My client said that a web application provider needs ports opened. They have a PIX 506e. I don't think you can open a port - in general - don't you have to forward it?

There are tons of settings within a GPO to control IE. Are there any docs out there with suggestions on how to tighten down your clients? Or even practical suggestions?

I'm trying to help a former NT administrator get the hang of OUs and GPOs. I'm trying to make things simple for him, but also neat and tidy in the long run. So here's my question, where do you link your GPOs?
I was linking my GPOs at the root of the domain, and then using security filtering...
