    Upgraded to WIN98. Sound card problems?

    Upgraded to WIN98 SE. (no speakers on desktop right now) Whenever any sound plug-in tries to load, system totally hangs up. Have to reboot. Novice here. Husband did the installation. Novice also. What needs to be "fixed" so I won't have to reboot everytime I stumble on a site...
