Hi All,
I have a PC where the time is running slow (by about 30 mins as of last night). I've reset the time once and its slowed down again. I'm thinking this may be a motherboard battery problem, however, the computer is on 24/7 so could the battery still be the problem?
Many thanks
Mark

Hi All,
Here's the situation:
We have 6 Windows 2000 Advance servers all acting as Logon servers.
We login on a Windows 2000 Pro client to the network and some old GPOs get applied (These GPOs are no longer required and have been removed). We reboot the client and log on as the same user and...
Hi all,
During July / August we upgraded all our workstations from Windows 98SE to Windows 2K pro. Before we upgraded all our printers were working fine. However, after the upgrade, we have several printers that take anywhere between 1 minute to 20 to print. We've tried upgrading the firmware...
Hi all,
I have a custom adm file that re-points the All users folders to the server. We have created a special user that runs an install script that goes through a list of programs and installs any that haven't been installed. This works fine except it places all the shortcuts on the server...
Hi All,
I apologies for the length of this cry for help.
I work in a School where the teachers are due back on Thursday and the students are back on Monday. If by 9 pm tomorrow night (Tuesday), we haven't found a solution to this problem, we will be forced to go back to Windows 98 which we...
Hi all,
I have set up Apache 2.0 on Windows 2000. I have created a few sub-directories which contain parts of the web site. The problem is, if we delete the filename from the URL it list the contence of the directory.
How do I go about disabling this? Also, is there any good websites that...
Hi All,
I have two printer queues on Windows NT 4 Server. One queue is always paused and the second is printing to the physical printer as normal.
Any ideas on the API's needed to redirect the print job listed on the first paused print queue to the second.
I have searched the 'net but am...
Hi,
I have a web page that uses a dropdown menu to allow the user to select some pre-defined views for a database.
My problem is, when I select a view, the page refreshes, shows what it is ment to, but the dropdown menu goes back to the first item.
Is there anyway to keep the dropdown...
Hi,
I have a few programs in mind that will start on the client machines (Win98) on startup before the user logs in. To make my life easier, I want to have a configuration file on a Windows NT 4 Server. But, as expected, I get blocked by the server because I haven't logged on.
Is there...
Hi All,
I have a computer running Windows 2000 (but I think I remember this problem started before that was installed and I was running Windows ME). The first problem I noticed was every once in a while, the computer would crash and on the reboot, the BIOS couldn’t detect the Hard Drive. I...
Hi,
I am building a computer which will share our (soon to be) DSL connection between 2 other computers and become an FTP server to myself only. This will be its sole purpose in life. I am thinking of getting the MSI MS-6368 motherboard and was wondering if anyone has had any trouble with...
Apologies if this is the wrong forum. I have also posted it in the Microsoft: Windows 95/98 forum.
We have an NT 4 network with Win 98 SE clients. I work in a school and when the students come along saying that their accounts are disabled due to using to much disk space (we use a third party...

Hi,
I work in a school where we have edited a few dll files to disable some functins. For example, we have edited the Mprserv.dll to disable the Domain text box on the logon dialog and in Msnet32.dll we have modified it to stop students confirming their password.
Our last idea is to disable...
Hi,
I am creating a program that will (hopefully) make sysadmin lives easier. A few ideas for it is to remotely map drives, execute programs at the workstation, remotely log off the workstation and a whole lot more.
One thing I would like to do is to remotely map a printer whilst not having...
Hi,
I work in a school. Up until a month ago, we were using Viglen Classlink as a front end to Windows 95 computers. We have now moved away from Viglen. To allow the students to access their emails, we use a program called Outlook Roaming Client with Outlook 2000 as the email client. The...

Hi,
I have an ATX computer with a Gigabyte GA6BX7+ motherboard. Everything was working fine until a few months ago. Since then when ever I shutdown my computer I get orange vertical lines on the monitor instead of it switching off. I have tried different Video Card, Monitor, and PCI Slot all...
