I know I came across at least one thread a while back where this was talked about, but I'm unable to find it now.
Can this be done easily? Just about everyone here has a laptop and most come shipped without a floppy drive.
Thanks,
JP
The company I work for has several mobile laboratories (box trucks) that are currently equipped with your typical desktop computer. They are crudely secured with bungee cords and/or velcro strips.
Does anyone know of any companies that manufacture computers designed specifically for moving...
When sending a resume by email attachment in response to a job posting, is it more appropriate to send the resume in Word or PDF format? I'm getting inconsistent advice from my peers.
Thanks,

A coworker complained his home computer was making a lot of noise and would occasionally restart itself, so I offered to have a look. Both the power supply and processor fans were making pretty severe grining noises, so I replaced them both.
When I booted up the machine, all was quiet and...
I took the exam today and passed with a 649. Can't say I'm really pleased with that score, I thought I'd at least be able to break 700.
Do all the questions count equally toward the overall score, or do some count more than others? 649 is in the low 70's percentage-wise. It felt like I did...
I've always said "preventative maintenance" but I feel like I'm in the minority. Is it just a matter of preference, or is one seen as more proper than the other?
Greatness is best measured by one's willingness to be kind. :-)
We all know the former is correct, but I swear I hear the latter used more often. On TV, in movies, in talking with friends, I hear people say for God sakes all the time.
I realize it's not the nicest phrase to use, correctly or not, but I was wondering if the same slip-up is prevalent everywhere.
If anyone has had some positive experiences with cert classes in the Chicago area, I'd really appreciate hearing which schools or training firms you used. If you've heard good things from reliable sources, that'd be great info also. I'm looking for classes that have a lot of hands-on. If they...
I have a handful of users who, inexplicably, cannot access one of our Notes databases. The users who cannot get access receive the following error message when they attempt to open:
"Database is not fully initialized yet. (It does not contain any views.) You will have to use 'Replicate...'...
Currently I have a Link Hotspot with the following text:
file:///G:/Folder/SubFolder
This works fine for most users, but some users are mapped to a different share with the "G:" drive designation.
Is there a way to use the server name in the path as opposed to a drive letter? For example...
Using LotusScript, is there a way to check one specified field for embedded objects as opposed to the entire document?
If (doc.HasEmbedded) Then... obviously searches the entire document. How can I get the agent to only search the one field, "ProjectAttachments"? Assuming there is a way.
2 users want to be able to share access to a Sharp AL1540CS printer. Both users have W2k laptops and connect to corporate WAN via VPN through a local wireless hub that's connected to a DSL modem.
What's the best way to setup shared access?
JP

The following LotusScript will successfully copy attachments to the given directory, but the attachments remain embedded in the Notes documents, despite the code calling for their removal.

Not being a database guy, I know very little about Lotus Notes, but some directors here at work have put me on a project team with one of the goals being the improvement of client upload/download times. In an effort to make some valuable contribution to the project, I've come to ask you Notes...
Not sure if this is the most appropriate forum, but does anyone know if the Canon ir5020 network copier/printer has fax capabilities? I know the ir5020i does, but not sure with the ir5020. Canon will provide training onsite next week, I just wanted to know ahead of time.
If anyone could offer...
For 8+ years I've worked as a chemist for a very large corporation. In 2000 I went back to school to get a second BS degree in Information Technology. Shortly after finishing school I had a couple interviews for desirable jobs, but the IT market had already started to fall, then 9-11 happened...
There's a Dell Latitude C600 laptop with W2k, SP4 in the office that doesn't recognize the "ipconfig" command in the command prompt. All the other Latitudes in the office recognize the command without problems. I'm not sure what other commands it won't handle. What could be missing...
There's an Excel 2000 spreadsheet here at work that when opened, the user will get a "File Not Found" window that gives the name of another Excel file that it's trying to link to. I never use this file, nor did I have anything to do with creating it, so I have no idea which cell or...
I took an older Dell desktop (Win2k, SP3)off the company network and placed it in a mobile vehicle (twilight of its life). The registry has some tweak to it that prevents anyone (including anyone with administrator rights) from switching the password protection off. The "wait" setting...
I've had a couple workstations infected with the Blaster worm today, so I'm not sure if this symptom is associated with it, but...
so far today 3 computers in the office have had the MS Office user names changed from e.g. "Jane S. Doe" to "F*ck**g Sh!thead" -- no joke. So...
