Need to add a phone jack to a 110 block

Existing 110 block with line1(phone) and line2(fax) wired with premise cabling. Need to add a wall jack about 2' next to the 110 panel. I plan on using a 2' piece of cat5 and the blue/whiteblue pair. Just need to know where to put the blue/whiteblue pair on the block. Thanks in advance.

What is the proper jargon to describe little squares on the screen?

what I am trying to describe looks the same as when you are watching satellite tv and a bunch of tiny squares come on the screen when the reception is poor. Is there a proper term to describe this? Thanks in advance.

    Asus 24port switch

I am changing a 16port 10/100 HUB to a switch. I mean like for 120cdn dollars I can get an ASUS 24port MANAGED switch. Am I wise in going with a relatively new brand for network "switches" or should I stick with a 3com brand. Of course the 3com I have in mind is not managed. Thank you.

going onsite... does it matter? 568/a or 568/b

I am going onsite to install a new switch and to put on new patch cords. Does it matter if I use 568/a or 568/b patch cords? If the building is wired 568/a and I use 568/b patch cords... will i have to pull up my pants from around my ankles? Thank you in advance.

    STT8000A what is my firmware?

I can use this drive on a w2k pro workstation just fine. Only thing is that if I backup more than 4gigs of data I get problems. The option for compression is turned on. I'm thinking firmware upgrade time. There is no web pages to show me what the firmware is but I have found a firmware file...

    ntbackup not compressing data

Or maybe the drive isn't. Seagate STT8000A is the drive and the option to compress the data is checked. Using 4gig native/8gigcompressed tapes. If they go over 4gigs the backup never finishes. Could it be the sony tr4 tapes? Thanks in advance

Quick password no longer coming up (always)

The quick password prompt used to always appear when I turned it on. Now it rarely does and I'm upset because my regular password is 12 digits. I've already shortened it to 12 digits and that's as far as I go. I am noticing that when I turn it off manually, the quick password screen is briefly...
