Seems there's a problem with the site, and I can't post a reply directly.
XP will probably cure it, so if you're going to install XP, just do it, and forget it.
If you're staying with 98, then have you manually set the VCache size as recommended by MS for systems with 512 meg of RAM...
There is no need to format and reinstall.
If you are taking an existing install of 95, 98, or ME, and moving the drive to another system, there's a simple way to get it all to work.

Just installed XP Corporate edition over top of my Beta (and the XPlus! pack as well).
Totally smooth transition.
Nice thing about "Corporate" vs the others, no "Activation" required, just type in the COA key, and it's done. :-) Cheers,

Three machines, 2 running XP, one with Win95.
Had the LAN working just fine, using NETBEUI protocall in Win98/95.
Now both are on XP, and there's just TOO much security! Can't get either machine to "see" the other, or the 3rd machine with Win95 on it.
I know I'm missing something in...
