    Convert String to Number

    I have a string field that is 100 bytes and need to convert it to a numeric value. is it as simple as creating a formula field and using tonumber(x) or is there something else i can do? This field is used to sort data.... Thanks....

    I have a string field which can contain either currency or just numeric data. I assume that I can use a formula to differeniate to format these values. Can someone help me with the correct syntac for the formula. if condition then numeric else currency... Thanks you
