The ones we need to change are all created as an...
I managed to to a stupid thing and shutdown the oracle db whilst it was doing a hot backup.
The first error that occurred when I tried to start the database said that one of the table spaces was corrupt. Having googled this it seemed that Oracle may have been lying to me and that i just needed...
Inside out companies secure network I currently have completely open access to our 4 RS6000s around the world with the /etc/hosts.equiv and any $HOME/.rhosts files all having "+ +" as the only entry.
I need to tighten this up urgently but am having trouble getting the security to work reliably...
I am in the process right now of changing over from a p630 to a 560Q. Everything has gone OK but when I sign on as one of the users and execute a command it is killed immediately.

We are currently running two drawers of 7133 D40 disks which are (exact) mirrored by AIX draw to draw.
We have just set up our new DS4300 units and have several raid 10 configurations defined using the storage manage software.
We want to move all the data on the existing 7133s to the new...
Every day the "/usr/bin/cron" process on our p630 AIX 5.2 restarts itself. It mostly happens at the same time of day - 11:45 and any processes that are running under the cron process just dissapear.
It is not always at 11:45, sometimes it is overnight and it doesn't always stop the child...
We have just started to use the savevg command excluding all files to provide a way of recovering our volume group structure during a system reload. The file created by savevg is OK and a restore using restvg has been tested.

We had a power outage last weekend and being a 8x5 operation this was not discovered until Monday morning. The UPS had kept the system going for enough time for it to shutdown everything in an orderly fashion.
Our H50 had rebooted itself OK but the 44P 270 needed the reset button to be pressed...

Will the resulting backup restore the operating system and all files 100% correctly.
If not, what are the problems
Thanks
