Ok, having a real issue here. I suspect a DNS issue, but I cant nail it down.
Just installed a new Domain Controller, added it to the 2000 domain, etc etc. All went well, AD replicated just fine.
I have TrendMicro Client/Server installed on another server on the network, running server 2003...
Hi,
Im trying to configure a free network management utility called SpiceWorks (www.spiceworks.com)
When running an inventory on your network, and getting a failure, one of the first tests they have you run is to run, from a command prompt:
c:\wmic /user:username /password:yourpassword...
On my w2k domain, I am using roaming profiles, stored on a NAS device.
The profiles are also being stored locally, on each workstation.
It seems like some of the profiles on the NAS device are much older than the stored profiles on the workstations, even though everyone is set to use roaming...
Ok, so my PC started this nasty mess of getting stuck in a reboot loop. Just as soon as you would normally see the blue windows screen, and the services and all would start (before the actual login screen) it would reboot.
No safe mode, no nothing...it would always just reboot on its own, at...
Running a w2k domain, with w2k clients, from control panel -> System - > user profiles (on the clients), when I go to make a profile "roaming" its greyed out, and I am unable to select it. So "local" remains the selected option.
Why?
Its different profiles on different clients, I have taken...
Im trying to allow multiple users remote access to 2 different workstations on the local network.
Currently I have the router set to forward connections to a static IP address, but this only supports the one system with the static IP.
What I need, is to be able to set up VNC (or something...

Is it possible to change the location of users roaming profiles from a w2k server partition to another location? Such as a NAS device?
I figured I could just move the folder containing all the profiles to the NAS drive, then change the location of the profile in the user account settings, then...
In our w2k domain, I use Ad-aware, and spybot to keep systems "clean" (only 3-4 systems), but I notice that when these programs find cookies and such, that are "suspect", that theyre always for the local user (administrator), and they never isolate, or locate any other users...
I am a NT 4.0 trained MCSE, and I run a small 2k domain, 1 DC, and about 10 clients.
Our work is mission critical, as I work in the E-911 Emergency Communications field, Im the network administrator, as well as a dispatcher.
I am about to be tasked with something I have no knowledge of...
Just a quick question here...
If a program states that its "95/98/XP Compatable"
Is it your opinion that the program will also run under w2k Pro?

W2k professional workstations, logging on and off a domain.
When users try to shut down, log off, or attempt to reboot, the screen fills (and I mean fills!) with dialog boxes that read:
"Inet Delivery" "Failed to get data for uninstall PID"
The only option is to power off...
