I'm a little unclear about memory allocation in Windows 2000.
I run a function that allocates a large amount of space to data in memory and, as the data builds, I watch the amount of used memory rise in Task Manager.

My machine has suddenly started using the c:\windows folder for temporary files instead of c:\windows\temp. How can I revert the temp folder to the default? I have tried setting the system TEMP system variable in AUTOEXEC.BAT but it made no difference. The OS is windows 98se.
