    color Laserjet 5M error 54.4

    I have aquired a used color laserjet 5m. Upon starting up, the unit goes through self test and the message "54.4 engine error" appears on the display. This was a working unit prior to shipping, as the test page that was sent with the unit indicates so. What does this error mean?
