In our office we run a security cameras management application. Basically it just shows live video from several cameras.
What we are trying to do is to switch to this application when the computer is not being used for anything else. Kind of like run it instead of a screensaver.
I have no idea...
I have been struggling with installing Win2k on 2 Aopen machines based on AX6BC motherboard using PIII 733 MHz, newest BIOS.

One of the machines lets me install windows but after a day or two it developes a really long delay durind splash screen. Then...
Is there a way to limit the maximum number of pages users are allowed to print, especially from web browsers? Or stop printing from browsers altogether? Some of our students are printing out extremely long web pages from, like Library of Congress or something like that. We don't want to manually...
We are trying to make all PCs login on local profiles with identical settings. For some reason if we copy a profile (no matter how) the machine refuses to use it. It creates a new one temporarily. Like if we have a profile User1 it creates User1.Machine1 and removes it on logoff. It has to be a...
We implemented a scheduled autoshutdown on all our machines. Turns out some older workstations (Dell Precision 410 and some Acers) reboot instead of shutting down. I've tried using several switches and yes I've tried using some other shutdown utilities (our original one is from the reskit)...
If we want to put a file to the C: drive of a number of workstations, what would be the best way of doing it?
Right now what I do is map an administrative share for each computer and drag the file over there one-by-one. I'm sure it's a very unefficient method. Is there a way to automate it...
I've killed my old PIII board on my second PC some time ago and am looking for a replacement. I used to have an 815 based board and didn't like it. Mainly cause it doesn't support over 512 RAM.
Now I have 768 PC133 ram, PIII 1Ghz coppermine CPU and a matrox g400 max. Just need a board to make...
After installing IE6 windows stops keeping open folders on desktop after reboot. From what I've read it's by design. Is there a way to revert it back to what it was?
Sorry if this question was asked before, it's hard to search for this particular subject (folders, desktop, open, reboot?).
We need to allow power users to temporarily install fonts on the machines. We have ATM Deluxe installed but it doesn't even start for non-administrators. It gives an error message about rights to registry entries.
How do users normally manage their fonts? We can't give them administrative...
We've recently thrown out the last devices capable of reading the old "mini-floppies". I believe it's 5.25. Next thing you know there's a department chair coming with an envelope full of these saying it's invaluable data and we have to copy it into some readable format. The PC store...
In one of our classrooms task sheduler doesn't give us an option to browse and select any task except the installed programs in the list. Or if I add new task from r-click then the window for the task path is greyed out.
We used WinAT instead, but why would that happen in the first place?
We recently moved to a new building and have a problem with our Dell 420 boxes. We can't ghost them through multicast. We get a DHCP error when we try to connect to a multicast session. All other machines ghost without problems. We are kind of short of IPs on the floor (4 available), so our...
What's the cheapest way to control Win2k workstations remotely. We use terminal services to acces the main server, but I'm not sure how to go about workstations. I know there is PC-Anywhere and others, but I have no idea what's most cost-effective.
What's the best way to make changes to mandatory profiles? Do I have to make it roaming first (rename to .dat on the server). Then make changes on the workstation, logout, login as admin and "copy to" from "User Profiles"?
We seem to have some icons on the taskbar that...
