    Do I need my floppy drive?

    Im pretty sure my floppy drive is broken - Can anyone tell me if I need to use a floppy disc to format my hard drive?(40 g), is it possible to make a start up disc on CD instead?if so then how do I go about doing this please.I use windows ME.
