OK, I know they aren't the same thing. So far I have:
If you don't have a ypservers file you must start up ypbind with a -broadcast option and have a NIS master or slave on the same subnet. Makes sense.
Now, if I have a ypservers file, are those the only servers that the machine will bind to...
I have some users who just want to view one subnet of the network using Dynamic Views (NNM 7). Apparently selecting "normal"->"All"-> and the subnet is above their heads and I was wondering if there's any way to add a custom menu option in homebase to give them more or less one click access to...
Hey guys getting a strange error here. When I am installing OVPI 4.5 it bombs when it configured the database. Errors are as follows:

OK, I'm fairly new to OpenView so go easy on me. I have three users who want to use the web client mostly but they still want to be able to use the full UNIX client if they need to make changes, etc. Each one also wants their own map to tweak. OV runs on Solaris 8 (sunfire 280R, headless). I...
Run, do not walk away from the Cert21.com Solaris 8 certified SysAdmin practice exam (part 2). After taking and passing the exam I can tell you that the pre-exams I took through them were 40-60% based on information not in the stated exam curriculum by Sun. I don't know anything about any of...
I have a Sun A1000 RAID array that had a bad battery. I got a replacement and shoved it in. It still shows as bad. Did I get a DOA replacement or is there something I have to do to tell the A1000 that this thing is new? Just checking before I start throwing parts at it.
Thanks,
Brian
Can I run WebLogic server v7 SP2 on port 80/443 without the process being run as root?
I can probably accomplish the same thing from the network side (eliminating Port #s from the URL) but just looking at options.
Thanks

Anyone tried to cluster a Weblogic7 Portal? We have started looking at it, but one of the concerns is that we are using Pointbase for portal configuration and personalization data. Can more than one Portal instance grab this data from the same Pointbase instance? Normally Pointbase starts from...
Anyone know how much a Weblogic 7.0 portal using pointbase can handle? My organization is setting up a staging environment and we'd rather people use pointbase than an overkill solution like Oracle. But, if 5000 people try to hit us at once is pointbase gonna choke?
Thanks.
Brian
