So my place of work received a nice little virus that spread faster then anything I have witnessed and it's killing the spirits of my coworkers and myself just as fast. I'm hoping someone on the boards here has some experience with such a thing.
We're told the virus was spread due to a...
Client machine is a XP Pro machine. I've got two printers on the network I need it to print to. One is a hp inkjet and it prints everything fine to it. The other is a Multifunctional Minolta and it will print test pages and docs from notepad, but I can't get it to print anything if I print...
I have been in the IT field for almost 10 years now and have recently gotten a little more comfortable with linux. I have a client that wants a file server and I'm trying to go as cheap as possible since it's only a 6 person network and the only thing they will use this for is to store a very...

Thanks in advance!

I've just replaced a server and the old one was acting as print server for about 30 clients. My question is, is there a way to push out the printers to the clients for the new server? Also, is there a way to delete the old ones remotely?

This may not be the right place due to it being a virus, but I thought I might get a more accurate response in the hands of notes professionals. This is the second time this has happened to a mail file on our domino server. We are using NAV and a user's entire nsf mail file will be thrown into...
I have a machine that will reboot randomly and when it comes back up it tells you it did so because of a device driver, but it doesn't say which. This particular user has quite a few devices/upgrades and I'm wondering if there is a utility out there that could help me narrow down the faulty...
I'm trying to upgrade the firmare on this switch. When I go to the ip in a browser I get my menu of option and one is the CMS. So I click on it and it looks like it's trying to load a java applet, but it never does. Is anyone else using an xp machine to connect to these switches for...
Wasn't there one posted about recently that did this? I have a user in a remote location (Farm house 3 hours away from me) that calls me and says the computer just starts up and hits a blue screen with a memory dump message and then reboots. Didn't a virus surface recently that had these...
Never have I found such a difficult spyware to remove from a pc. This little devil is a browser hijacker and I have successfully removed every trace of it, but then after rebooting it repopulates this info...

My company is looking at making a very large purchase of laptops very soon. As of now we use exclusively IBM laptops, but are open to other possibilities. Actually, I need to make my decision by the ned of the day here and it's down to HP or not.
So waht do you all think? Have you had a good...
Actually, some of our W2K machines do this as well. You'll just be on the network working and it will come up with a bubble saying you are offline now. This happens in all of our offices. Any ideas?

Any idea why if I go to my status bar and drop down the many choices I should have they are all greyed out? Anyone else ever have this problem? This would be a great feature as I program on my pc using 1400X1050, but my users are typically using 800X600 or 1024X768
Thanks in advance,

I plan to install a server in my home for backup of my wives home business files along with other server functions I might find of use. I am a network admin of mostly w2K/XP experiece, but have dabbled in linux here and there.

I'm having a DNS issue at work where if I'm in one office I can goto an internal website, but if I'm in a different one then I can't. I don't understand enough about DNS to look at our DNS settings and figure out why it works for one and not the other. Like I don't understand why my region...
Now all I get when I login is a list of my databases at startup. I can then proceed to click on my mail file and all work fine, but what happened to my welcome page?

OK, I'm surely not the only one here who has to deal with this. I have certain users that when they are let go we would like to be able to shutdown their access to the network completely remotely. In most cases they are already logged into the network and I assume their network credentioals...
What do I need to do to make it so when a user clicks a link to a wmv file it'll open that file in a player right there on the website?
Thanks for any help!

We're looking for a product or a combination of products that will do the following.

I realize landesk does this and we currently use this, but we don't care for...
