I am in the process of migrating from NT 4.0 to W2K. I am renaming the all of my PC's, mail and file servers using DNS compliant naming convention (most of my machines use an underscore in the netbios name)but have one vendor with approx. 8 servers on the network that doesn't know how to make...
We are planning to upgrade our NT 4.0 domain over the next few months but are faced with some difficulties that will make our reliance on W2K DNS problematic.
Most of the servers/PC's within the domain have non-compliant DNS names. Specifically, most of the machines use the underscore...
Hello,
I am in the process of migrating our NT 4.0 domain to W2k...my 1st step is upgrading the DNS server to W2K DNS. We have approximately 250 machines that are using the underscore character as part of the net bios name (i.e. test_pc1).
I am concerned because the underscore character is...
Does anybody know what the ideal HW requirements for a
Exchange 2000 OWA server are?
I am currently running OWA 5.5 on a separate (W2K) machine than my Exchange 5.5 server and plan on upgrading to Exchange 2000 within the next couple of months. I plan on keeping my Exchange and OWA servers on...
Is there a way that I can prevent the /exchange/logon.asp directory from being displayed in the user's web browser when the IP address/DNS name is used to get to the QWA server?
I would not like to advertise to any potential hackers the location of anything on this server.
Thank you
I have OWA 5.5 set up on a W2K IIS server (Exchange is on a seperate machine). I have ports 80 (http) and 443 (https)open on my firewall to allow external traffic to the machine.
Is it prudent to limit available ports on the IIS machine to protect from internal traffic? When I went into...
Recently installed OWA 5.5 on a W2K server (my Exchange is on a seperate NT 4.0 machine) and I am in the process of testing it.

I have a single workstation with a static IP address that I need to disable.
I am concerned about this machine because it is not registered in WINS and my LAN analyzer is reporting that it probably is a Unix/Linux box (it shouldn't be). Also, I cannot PING this machine from the router although...
I am in the process of setting up OWA 5.5 on a W2K server (IIS 5). We use a NT 4.0 domain structure.
Both this account as well as the IWAM_Machine_Name accounts have been created locally on my IIS server NOT within the domain. The instructions that I am using state that I should add this local...

Hello,
We are currently running Exchange 5.5 on an NT 6a server with no plans of upgrading to W2K anytime soon. I would like to setup OWA on a DIFFERENT server using W2K/IIS 5.0.
Does anybody know if there is a problem with this scenario?
Thank you in advance for any help.
The previous administrator added the Exchange Administrator account to a bunch of different groups (e.g. Server Operator and Backup Operator).
My understanding is that this account only needs to be a member of Domain Admins (global) and Administrator (local).
Is this correct? Thank you.
I have a WINS record that keeps reappearing in my WINS database even though the machine is no longer on the network and I've deleted the record many times.

Thank you - Z.
