Intermittent problem - form doesn't update

We've got a form that doesn't allow the user to update the data on minute, but does the next. The changes look okay on the screen, but no change to the underlying data takes place. Any code that runs finds the 'old' data. So the screen updates, but the data doesn't. [sad] Any ideas? Recently...

Problems when Access loses focus when editing...

Got a strange intermittent problem here. Every now and again - say less than once a week. If the user starts to edit a record and then swaps to another application before saving the changes and then swaps back, the current record changes to another. The form has a tab control with 5 pages on...

    Tab Control weird behaviour

Every now and again the controls outside of the tab point to a different record to those inside the tab. Moving off the record and back again seems to fix it, but it keeps re-occuring. This happens less than 1% of the time. Does anyone what's causing this or more importantly, how to fix it...

    List of Values

We have several objects where a list of values would be very useful, but can take a very, very long time to generate... Is it possible to generate the list on one machine, and distribute the list to all the others? [morning]

VBA Error 115 - Error loading the dataprovider

I've created several VBA data providers. 95%+ of the time they work great, but every now and again I get error 115. Does anyone have any information on this error? Has anyone else encountered this? Here's a sample provider - it picks 10 rows at random from any DP, copying it's structure as...

    Outlook - calendars

Is it possible to set up a resource that emails the person who booked it with further details? [ponder] We want to set up a system that allows staff to book a pool car. Current thinking is an outlook calendar. After the user has booked the car, we would like to send them an email detailing...

    Document crashes when refreshed

I've got a document that crashes when the providers are all refreshed at once, but not when the providers are refreshed one at a time. Does anyone know why?

Calling a vba function in a document

Is this possible? I've written a vba function that takes a string as input, and outputs an integer. I would like to create a variable that uses that function. Something like:- =RegCat(<RegistrationCategory>) Is there a way to do this, or am I wasting my time? Many thanks Chris

Finding out the owner of a file?

How can I find out the owner of a file? I'm writing an application that checks the age of a file and if it's over a limit it's moved elsewhere so it can be archived (or deleted, hee! hee!) There's a cooling off period between the moving and the archiving, so people have a chance to grab their...

Colour alternative rows in a report?

Is this possible? I'm creating a report and would like to shade the cells in every other row, making it easier to keep your eyes on the correct row. Any ideas?

    Problem with headers...

I'm working on a report that is divided into sections. The report is designed to be printed out and passed to another section. The problem is that a section may cover more than one page. Is there a way of showing the column headings and the section title on each page if it goes over? I've...

Read data from a web page

I'm trying to create a recordset based on a table stored on the companny's intranet. Navigating to the page is no problem, it's reading the data. Any ideas?

    Simple IE question

I'm writing an application that starts up an Internet Explorer object, navigates to a specific page and creates a recordset based on the contents. However, I need to navigate to the logon page, log on and then navigate to the page I want. I can enter the required details onto the login form...

    Good Practice Guide

My company has only recently started to use BO. We've got to the point where we are trying to compile a good practice guide. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could go in it. What works for you? Even better, has anyone already created such a guide? I'll try to put a version out in...

    Hogging the cpu

Why does BO hog the processor when running a query? Shouldn't the server be doing most of the work? Is there a way to stop this? The 'spike' goes up to 100% the moment the query is submitted and stays there until the query returns. I would have expected a short spike when sending the query...

    Duplicate rows/columns in crosstab

    I've got a problem with a crosstab that doesn't seem to group items properly. Age item1 item2 10-16 2 10-16 12 17-20 4 17-20 4 As you can imagine, I would prefer the table to look like this: - Age item1 item2 10-16 2 12 17-20 4 4 Does...

Use VBA to read query results

I'm new to business objects. I've been playing with VBA for over four years. The data I've got doesn't lend itself well to one small task, which would be easier to do using VBA - the difficulty is in examining the data returned by a query, and using this to create another table. Building the...
