I just noticed that when I use IE to access FTP sites under W2k OS it works...
But,
When I use NT4.0 using IE to access FTP sites...
I can access them but cannot download or upload to our ftp server using the same username and password used in W2K OS.
Strange....
any tricks to...

I just found out that our server here is running, for three years now, AD without DNS configured to it... we have 50 users on the W2K server, and it is configured to serve also as our gateway to internet. (2 nics configuration).
I want to also add that we don't have any problems...
I want to use my W2K Server as smtp server. For sending messages thru Microsoft Outlook.
IIS installed...
Default FTP Site(stopped)...
Default WEB Site (stopped)...
Administration Website (stopped)...
Default SMTP Virtual Server
(running)...
NNTP Server (stopped)...
It is connected directly to...
I know that this is not the right place, but do you know any website about simple step by step installation of smtp server...
or maybe people here can teach me how...
W2k Server with IIS installed but everything off... once we were able to make ftp work. And also we are on static IP if thats...
Can you use this even if you dont have any network card?
I can use this without problem when I have a network drive attached but as soon as I disconnect, I will have erros. (I am on a laptop with network card on the docking bay.)

I am using Windows 2000 Pro and it has a built in file synch, where you can browse your files even when your not connected to your server.
This is really a great program, except that it doesnt copy everything. It doesn't copy database files.

when a user is a member of domain admin, they have access to \\compname\c$.... which is I think is dangerous...
someone suggested to remove these users from the group... as a domain admins... which I did...
1) they cant look on their calendar via time-gui because they dont have priveledges...
On NT4 or Win2000 machines...
Even if you are not sharing your folders or nothing is being shared, there is a default C$ being shared as a default share. How can you turn this off...

this is about time synch on the server.
I want to make a simple batch that will enable the net time command as part of the startup.
net time \\server /set
but this will ask you if you want to synch your computer from the server.
how do you put "enter" on dos batch file?
