After joining XP SP2 pc's to SBS 2003 domain the Applying computer settings part takes forever.
XP is pointing to local DNS and not ISP DNS.
SBS GPO's are set to default
Any other ideas?
Applying computer settings during bootup takes forever and i know about the client must point to local DNS server and not DNS at ISP.
But what else is causing this behaviour. I have even moved the computer to a new Computer OU without any GPO applied but its still taking very long.
I have 3 OU's that needs to use different GPO's.
Should i create 3 new ones and ignore the default domain GPO incl the SBS logon script and create my login scripts to map drives etc.?
I will be implementing SBS soon but need to know how will i configure Internet and email as i want users to be able to use their existing Internet conncetion and POP email from ISP while i'm still setting and configuring the SBS server.
For instance: Will they loose their Internet connection...

Can someone recommend a firewall solution for our SBS network for about 40 users incl. wireless and vpn connections
I was thinking PIX firewall.
Or should i just use the default 2 NIC setup with SBSbut i have never worked with SBS 2003 firewall solution.
When is it realy necessary to use IAS and Radius. I know its used for wireless and VPN remote clients but some wireless access points have builtin authentication or encrypted methods.
The Internet gateway appearing under Network Connections says my computer is using another pc to connect to the Internet. How do i find this Internet connection sharing computer on the network
I know i have touched on this before but i realy need clarity on the following:

All our users connect direct to a ADSL router for Internet access. How do i restrict or force them to go through a proxy server or something simalar so that we can monitor/limit Internet abuse. We have a SBS 2003 server in place.
We have SBS 2003 Premium Edition.
If we want to upgrade to SBS R2 incl SQL and ISA is it just an upgrade or must we buy the complete new license.
Also i do i detemine how many CAL's we have for SBS.
As some of you have realised by now i'm new to SBS forum.
Is ISA like a proxy server for users....something like squid in SuseLinux
Right now all users in our site connect directly to the internet and i want to implement ISA to monitor/restrict and get reports on bandwith, sites visited etc...
