I am in charge of a fairly large network and I was wondering if there a way to analyze packets in a windows enviroment. Or is there a program that will tell you the OS of a remote host. I know they have them available for Unix varients but I have yet to find something with a windows compatability.

I was on my friend's computer when I was attacked via DoS. I heard my modem making noise like you hear when you pick up the phone but through the modem speaker. I want to know if the two are related. If not then what could it be?
I was on my friend's computer when I believe I was experiencing DoS attacks when the modem started to make noise like when you pick up the phone but it was coming in through the modem speaker. I want to know if this is possible and how they did it or if it's even related.
