Ok... the background attribute for table cells is VERY precious to me as I've used it in almost 100% of the pages I've created. I was horrified to see that it ISN'T supported within XHTML 1.0
Is there any way around this? Or a way to 'cheat' possibly? I just want to get it to work...
What are the differences? I mean.... MAIN differences. I've been told a hundred different things from a bunch of people and I've looked at it myself.

Within a page, if I want it to be 'stuck' to the top left of the screen and get rid of page margins I typically use marginheight="0", marginwidth="0", etc...
