We often receive files that are too large to open with notepad, wordpad, etc.
At several places i've supported, there was proprietary code that did not need to open the entire file at the start. It opened some small amount and then allowed one to scroll forward thru the data.
Is anhyone aware...
It has become my understanding (gotten from various conversations rather than documented) that whan an XP system has multiple users defined, there is a Lot of Extra Overhead.
If one were to delete all of the but one, the overhead is still there because the multiple definitions service is still...
Rather frequently my Win7 pc locks with no diagnostic info shown. The system just freezes. Sometimes, the mouse can be moved about, sometimes not. Windows can neither be closed nor opened.

We have several "common use" documents that are password protected so that the "master" is not modified. When one has the document open as read only, a copy may be saved locally, but when this is opened later, it still has the original (and unpublished) password.
How can the copy be saved...
