I've had to format my Seagate 18 gig SCSI HD.
I have 2 ways to reinstall the operating system, either with the SCSI utility that came with the SCSI adapter card or with, bootdisk, fdisk.
Regardless which utility that I use, the HD always partitons to an 8 gig primary partiton...
Although you shouldn't use Task Scheduler to run a thorough ScanDisk or Defrag, you can use it for a reminder. Just write yourself a note with Notepad or Wordpad and save it, being sure to name it. You can save it were ever you wish, just remember where.

working in win 98. I have a hidden program writing to the HD, I can't defrag becaust the defrag utility keeps restarting, How can I locate the program that's writing and shut it down?

My PC has no command prompt or dos prompt which ever you want to call it?
Can't boot to dos.
No blinking underline just a black screen.
Have to reboot to Win 98.

My seagate cheeta SCSI ultra wide, is 14 gigs, my checks say that only 8 gigs are available?
What's the deal, only an 8 gig partition?
How do I get the other 6 gigs?
I'm only using 3 gigs, so, it's no big deal, but what the heck!
